Figured I would see what kind of offers might be out there, been thinking of selling my 85 base-model Firebird lately... between the overall shape and what I've seen some others out there for, I was thinking in the 4000 ranges but curious to see what others would have to say - I'm not sure what the market is like in the south for a summer driven car like this, I know up north it'd be a good price...
Clean carfaxed 129k miles
LG4 305 4bbl
700-4r auto
BW 9-bolt 3.08 gears
New in the last 7 months: exhaust, brakes, tires, radiator, headlights, battery, alternator, belts, struts, alternator, vacuum lines redone - replaced with goodyear fuel injection rubber hose, replaced stock radio.
Most of the other options would show up in the pics - power window/manual lock car, rear defog, SUPER CLEAN interior - no rips or stains on the seats or the carpet, dashpad uncracked, never wiped with armorall the whole time I owned it either so shouldnt crack for a while to come. On the subject of reliability it holds over 30psi oil pressure hot, shifts well, tight steering and suspension, mid 20s mpg, I was averaging around 25-26 on (3) trips over 1600 miles each way to/from Vermont to New Orleans since August. Was undercoated a very long time ago, including portions of the engine bay, firewall, etc as can be seen in the pics, which appears to have been done around the same time as the repaint which I am guessing was in the early 90s.
Heres the downsides: dew wipe strips on the doors are shot and let water into the doors, this led to rust on the bottoms. Not visible from outside but can be seen by opening the door and lying underneath. One paint bubble on bottom of car on rear passanger side. Paint itself is old and really ought to be redone, has touchups in some spots. Center console lid has a couple splits in the rubber/vinyl/foam, and because on the first trip down that I took I had both windows open on the highway until I hit Maryland, the headliner started to drop and should be replaced.
Half of me is ready to keep the car and bring it to show ready status, half of me is wanting to let it go to someone else because I will not be able to keep her inside if I do redo the little things.
