Things that work on this car. ======================= Brakes, (except for the emergency brake) Headlights and Head light motors Tires radio, AM FM Cassette player with aux input Amplifier for radio Speakers for radio Heater Heater fan Windshield washer Power Steering battery cooling system Oil pressure gauge Water temperature gauge Tach It has a space saver spare tire I will throw in the hydraulic jack I keep in the car. I will throw in the tire iron I keep in the car. Things that work but are flaky. ======================= The engine uses a little oil but starts well. It has a 4 barrel carburetor with a manual choke. It is a 302 V8 The Tranny leaks a little fluid but works fine. It is an automatic The starter circuit is routed through a switch on the central console due to the ignition switch failing in that area. The ignition switch still works for all other functions The hatch and fuel door locks were replaced with locks from a hardware store, they work but the keys do not match each other or the ignition or door keys. The T-top on the drivers side leaks. The windshield wipers work but you have to play with them as I had to replace the broken actuator arm with a replacement from the auto parts store. The speedometer reads about 20% faster than what you are actually doing. Things that are bad or do not work ========================== It is rusty, there are rust spots all over and some holes around the rear panels. There is also a floor board that looked rusted out when viewed from underneath. The exhaust system needs to be reconnected. I have the pipe that fell off but it needs to be reattached. The headliner is frayed. The seats are nasty, they have liners on them right now. The dash board is cracked The rear window defroster/defogger only has two lines that work, mostly useless. The emergency brake has never worked since I owned it. It would require new parts to get it working. Since it is an automatic it was never a big concern for me. The center console compartment does not have a lock on it. The cigarette lighter does not work. It has over 200,000 miles on it from what I could figure out by looking at prior carfax entries. The odometer only goes to 99,999 . =============================== If you are interested or want to make me an offer please drop me an email. I have given up on selling this car. I will give it away. Bandit327 gets first dibs and I have sent him an email. Basically if you want this car show up and you can have it. If no one replies I will drive it to a local junk yard and let them do what they want with it. I need the space it is taking and I need to not have it on my insurance.

This is the email I sent to Bandit327, it has the status of my 83 firebird.

If, after reading this, you still want to come get it, let me know.

I have given up on getting any money for my 83 trans am. If you want it for
parts you can have it for free. I fear the underside is too rusty for your
purposes and I do not want to have you buy something you could not use.
I had to put a 2x4 between the drivers seat and the side of the body to
keep the seat from dipping too low. I would not want to drive it for any
great distance. It is a shame as it still runs ok. I had not gotten back to
you as I have been fairly busy with upkeep on my Fiero and my Wife's Jeep.
I need to get rid of this car as my insurance is due in August and registration in Oct.

If I do not hear from you soon I will just drive it a local junk yard and let
them salvage the parts off of it.

Things that work.

Has clear title in my name

All the glass is good

T tops ok but they do leak

The headlight motors work

Tires are good

Rims are ok

motor good

Tranny good

Rear end good

brakes good

radio and amp work

has a spare tire

Things that are not worth saving

Doors are shot due to rust

Floor pan on drivers side is gone due to rust

back quarter panels rusted in front of rear tires

Fuel line pieced together so it does not leak but I
would not want to drive it a long ways.

hood is from a regular firebird and has dents and
some rust.

I did reply to you in message #3. I said I was not planning on parting the car out. I still am not parting the car out. The car goes as one piece or it does not go at all. Keep in mind I first posted this back in mid-march. The only person who was interested in the whole car was bandit327. While bandit and I were exchanging emails we were never able to come to a way to get the car to where he is in TN. There also was the problem that there was a lot more rust under the car than I had originally thought and I also found the floor pan under the drivers seat was completely gone. That made it unsafe for me to drive it the 300+ miles from OH to TN. If I sold the rims the car would be setting in my drive way on hubs. Which is why I said I was not parting the car out. I am not a garage, do not have a lift, do not have spare rims to put in place of the ones on the car.

call the junk yard tell them you have a car that needs tobe gone....you request a flat bed to come pick it up.
once the car is on the flat bed tow truck then take the rims off & sell them to me .common since i will give you $250 shipped for the rims.
if you give the trans am to the junk yard sell me the rims..........

You are persistent and I like that trait. I will see what I can do in regards to getting the rims off if the car goes to the junk yard.

I have a history of having a car sitting in my driveway in pieces and having to figure out a way to get it gone when it did not have the front X assembly due to me taking the motor and tranny out. I never want to even get close to that situation again. So it is my paranoid fears that I am dealing with.

I will call the local junkyard I like and talk to them, I may be able to drive it to them and remove the rims as long as they are warned before hand. My work schedule is weird and I will be fairly busy the rest of the week and coming weekend due to family matters. I will deal with this on the 31 of July if all goes as planned and no one else wants the whole car.

If someone showed up at my place and wanted it, whole, yes.

I see that you are located in Michigan, so I am guessing that is not what you had in mind?

Without work the car is not safe to drive very far. This is due to the temporary repair on the fuel line, the temporary repair of the exhaust system, the temporary shoring up of the drivers seat so it does not fall out the bottom of the car.

I also would not give it to someone I fear would hurt themselves or others due to them driving it until one of those temporary repairs failed. Teenagers have enough issues to live through without me making their life more dangerous.

I was looking for a parts car. I already have a 85 TA. If i came down to get it i would rent a car dolly to put it on. Do u have any pics of it? Are the fenders in good shape?

I think the front fenders are ok, the rear have rust.
