Im sure if he could get a title for the car he already would have. With a title the car would be worth more than he's asking, but with no title $500 is a fair price.
If you would buy it there are ways of getting a title for the car. I have to for an 85' Trans Am I just bought for $300 with no title. I know a JY owner so Ill be swapping out VIN Tags from another Third Gen & get a title that way. May be an R Title, but thats better than no title. I couldnt see parting it out seeing how good of shape its in, and this is how Im going to save it.

No thats not the only way to identify a car, but it is the first place anyone will check and many wont go any further than that. Only problem you would run into is if the police would would want to investigate your car, because they think its stolen or something like that. Otherwise youll never really have a problem swapping in a VIN tag you have a title for.
Its done alot in older cars when you have a car that isnt restorable but have a title, and find a restorable car but it doesnt have a title.
Re: 1985 trans am roller(parts/race car) $500 toledo/ohio
i have the title but its a salvage tite due to being bought at a police auction. The way it goes is you have to have it inspected to basically prove the parts you put on the car to make road worthy are NOT stolen. Well, i went and pulled the motor out of my 83 firebird and kept the title to that car and scraped it. I basically just need to drive it all the way to findlay ohio and pay 53 dollars to have it inspected.
BUT, i dont have the time anymore and the desire to get the title fixed and just want this car out of my hair. Im working full 100% on my 91 trans am right now lol.
its 500 dollars as roller and no extras...if you want it bad enough it would be close to 1000 for complete with title. It runs and drives right now(needs tires.)
this 85 trans am is VERY SOILD and great car.....just i got a 91 trans am and moved on........
Re: 1985 trans am roller(parts/race car) $500 toledo/ohio
sorry...not needing any tpi parts anymore.....but i need this car gone BAD and rather not spend the money doing title work.....
this trans am would make great drag car chassis
or ALOT of good part car.....car runs and drives but im pulling a lot of parts off i bought.
for 500 dollars you get a 305 and 700r4 that work.....but im puling a few things off like:
carb
intake
all exhuast
Maybe the 300 dollars worth of brand new brake parts on the front(everything is new)
