I have decided to get rid of my project, not enough room or time, and do not want to let a running and driving car just sit parked.
It is a 1985 Trans Am, with the WS6 suspension/wheel package and T-tops, still original (replaced suspension parts with stock ones obviously)
It came with a 305 TPI 700r4 but has long been gone, all the computer stuff was taken out to make things simpler, no A/C (condenser, evaporator, compressor, all gone), heat does work.
As it sits, it has a 1985 305 carbed from a Caprice of the same year, 9.5:1 compression (flat-top pistons if I remember), #416 heads (58cc chambers, stock valve sizes), a Holley 4160 (vacuum secondary) brand new out of the box with a year of use (bought myself to fix a problem with a quadrajet, by removing it).
Has a hollowed out catalytic converter (it broke while interstate driving) and have not had the money to replace it, but want to. Straight-through 3in. exhaust, but using stock manifolds and Y pipe, could use replacing but work fine for a daily driver like I used it for, the muffler is an Imco Turbo, keeps it quiet but flowing nicely.
MSD 8.5mm plug wires, NGK IX spark plugs all the way around, BW cap and rotor (lifetime warranty at O'Reilly's) all ignition has less than 3k miles on it.
This car has a 700r4 behind it, engine was rebuilt 7k miles ago, transmission only has 85k miles on it. The rear-end I'm confident has 4.11 gearing at limited slip positrac, it is a Dana44 9-bolt. Has been upgraded with an aftermarket Camaro/Firebird disc brake kit, #426 calipers.
Recently replaced the waterpump gaskets, the battery (1yr), bought an aftermarket Sunpro tac, put an electric cooling fan back on with a relayed switch, new Chevy bowtie valve covers + gaskets, new windshield wipers, new bulbs all the way around and new headlights/harnesses, has an amplifier wiring kit already installed and run to the back, ready to be used, replaced the lockup solenoid in the transmission, and is now a switch inside the car (all the computer is gone), newer steering wheel, tires have between 40-50% life left.
This car runs and drives, I wouldn't take it out of state or past Dallas or Austin (never traveled that far in this car, ever. But it does run and drive just fine. All inspection-required equipment works, except the emergency brake.
Now for the bads:
-Interior is missing/torn up, seats are torn left and right, have sail panels but are torn, carpets tearing/worn, door panels are warped, dash is cracked, no center console (have it but its torn up), no radio or speakers, no headliner, windows leak (tops don't), so it needs weatherstripping, hatch does not leak at all, the spare tire compartment and storage compartment get water in them from below (knockout holes in frame came loose), no spare tires. Paint is fading/flaking, has a few dents, body kit needs reshaped, but is there.
I have some parts but not many, I bought a set of 1993 Z28 rims for the back and have been looking for the thinner front rims, they need 2" offset billet spacers, they are about $100 a pair, and the rims have good tires and will fit with the spacers. Car does not smoke, smells a little funny at times but not often, there is a hole in the firewall that goes straight to the vent behind the manifold, so heat leaks into the cab, but not exhaust.
It is a work in progress, good start for a drag car, but who knows what you might do with it.
I will get pictures up tomorrow, but posting this before work. Asking $2,300 local pickup only. It is located in Lacy Lakeview (north Waco), Texas. Title in hand.
