1988 GTA - 1 of 809 5-speeds. T-top 305 TPI
Third owner - previous owners were friends so I know the history of the car from the day it rolled off the lot. I bought in 9/02 with 118k - car now has 124,676. I have about $16k in receipts (but I'm married, so I NEVER total them).
Exterior - painted in '03 and garaged and covered (in the garage) ever since. Fiberglass spoiler. Going for the clean look, I removed side moldings and emblems and only replaced a white GTA badge on the hood. 3 issues total with the car - all cosmetic.
1 - patched floor where rear driver side passenger feet would be. Previous owner parked outside for 6 years and some water pooled behind the driver seat. Value of 3rd gens didn't warrant a full on floor replacement for a small patch - on top of a $5k paint job.
2-Pick-up truck with tow hitch put a 2 inch puncture in the front bumper cover to the left of the front license plate (pictures in TGO album).
3-surface rust on black t-bar. I couldn't find a nice replacement by the time the paint was done and I was ready to put on new weatherstrip. T-top weatherstrip is expensive, so I left it until its time for new.
Interior - fourth gen seats (bolster wear on driver seat) ebony leather. New carpet, new headliner, forth-gen center console, and '89-up rear seat belts for my young sons. Steering wheel controls worked, but head unit was replaced with single-CD. New speakers.
Suspension - completely new as of '08. Welded subframe connectors. New struts (and mounts), shocks, springs (stock) end-links, greasable sway bar bushings, steering center-link, and pitman arm. Tubular panhard and lower control arms. TA differential cover (drain and fill plugs for easier gear oil changes). Hurst shifter.
Engine - stock. was pulled out in '09 to change oil pan gasket and valve seals (no leaks or puff on start-up). While at it, replaced, oil pump, and pick up. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, battery, starter, Previously, I had done a new radiator, fan motors, Corvette temp sensor, 185 thermostat - car runs cool all day in any condition. Open air filter, and Flowmaster 40. Also, y-pipe and hi-flow cat have been changed by me.
I have a lot of time, money, and care into this car. Everything works as Pontiac hoped - headlight motors, digital dash 100%, rear hatch motor, windows, mirrors, foglights, everything. I'm not forced to sell, but ready for something a little more exotic. There is an album here on TGO http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/al...p?albumid=2843
but feel free to make picture requests. Car is located in Hillsborough, NJ and is ready to drive anywhere in the country. Asking $8k.
