Re: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA
I can't find an RPO sticker. From what I can find online it's supposed to be in the console but if it were it's long gone now. I tore apart the rear hatch plastics and there wasn't anything there either. Is there something in particular you were looking for? Let me know. Thanks.

I want to make sure the rpo code y84 is in place since you no longer have the decal it's pretty hard to tell if its a GTA or not I'll pass thanks for looking

Re: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA
As you can tell from the fading on the hood and the roof it still has the original California paint job and the GTA emblems are aged as well. I highly doubt this would be a fake for if it were it would have to have been faked very early on in it's life. I've only owned it for about the last 3 or 4 years. I don't have any RPO codes to prove it's heritage but I'm sure if a "pawn stars expert" checked it out he would believe it to be genuine. Thanks again.

I think he's a bit skeptical because it has the wrong spoiler on it and the GTA badges aren't in the right spot. Not talking ****, just an observation.

Re: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA
No biggie. I can understand anyone being skeptical. I do have the orginal hatch for it with the matching vin sticker but it doesn't have the wing. I always hated the wrap around wing so I swapped the hatch out for the straight wing style. As I said earlier. If someone were to see the car in person and the consistency of years of aging you would be inclined to believe it original. GTA or not it's still a nice third gen specimen.

Edit: You already indicated 3.27 gears in your profile. It's more than likely a GTA from what I can see in the pics, although the center caps leave me questioning myself. The emblems could have just fallen off at one point, then put back on in the wrong location by the owner. Either way, nice car...

Re: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA
Lock the front tires in place using wheel chocks, then jack the rearend up in the air. Place the transmission into neutral, mark the top position of the tire in conjunction with the very top of the universal joint, then rotate the wheel one full turn accordingly while observing the rotation of the universal joint. 1989 L98 GTA's came with the G92 option (3.27 gears), non GTA's with the L98 came with 2.77 gears. This will at least help point you in the right direction as to which model it is...

Mine are missing too and I don't know where else to look. I hate these stupid idiots that remove them without knowing what they are and now we that care for these cars don't have the info we need.
