1985 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM SE

This is my 1985 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM SE, V8 305, Power Everything, Preformance suspension. I'm not exactly sure what this car is..but i searched the VIN and some websites say TRANS AM SE and some Say FIREBIRD SE...so yeah no idea what to call it lol...

My dad used to own 3 3RD Gen Trans Am's and a few Camaros but one that stands out in my mind was a black and gold Trans Am with a T-Top (Special edition Bandit TA?). I was to little to really remember these cars but when my old car blew up over christmas a friend of mine sold me his mom's Firebird for $500 Canadian!...Which is a steal considering it runs great and the body is in good condition...It was just sitting (hiding) in his back yard and they cleaned it up and even had it running when i came over to pick it up on christmas day.

So the first thing i noticed about this car is that it likes to slide sideways...alot...and I need to treat it like I would an angry woman...my last car was FWD which was also my first car....but it was boring to drive...this thing...well...it's a blast...takes off like a scared rabbit...and tons of power. I drive my dads 2006 Dodge Charger sometimes...but whenever i drive my Firbird I feel more connected to the road even tho both cars launch like a bat outta hell my firebird just feels more "connected" while doing it.

Sadly I don't have the funds to "fix it up" that will have to wait 6 years or untill i'm finished College/University (I'm 20) so it will be a break/fix car...it really sucks because browsing this forum has made me extremelyyy jelous...I want to do so much to this car...but i cant.

Anyways...ever since i got it ive fallen hopelessly inlove with 3RD gen F-Body cars...I want a 1980-1989 Camaro so baaaadddd now!!!!!

Very cool! Those later model SEs are rather unusual. Just a note, you don't have a Trans Am SE, it is just a Firebird SE. Trans Ams have the ground effects and flat bumpers without the "bumperettes" (those black things). You seem to have a VERY well optioned SE though.

Re: 1985 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM SE

That is a nice 85 Firebird SE. (Like Amorget said, it is a Firebird SE, not a Trans Am) It is a pretty rare car, and yours looks to be in good shape!

85 and 86 SE's got a unique hood. It looks similar to the Trans Am hood, but does not have the side "heat extractors/ vents" towards the rear of the hood.

One thing I noticed is the car is missing the unique 85/86 SE taillight center section. It looks similar to the T/A piece, but says "PONTIAC" in the red reflective piece along the bottom.

Your taillight center piece is from an 86+ standard Firebird taillight set.

Re: 1985 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM SE

WOW! This is the first time (searching google etc) I found another person that has one of these cars! My car is the same, have had the same problem, but I have no spoiler! The previous owner had it painted red, but it was a water-based, so it just rubs off and fades in days.

I have a Performance logo also! but its red.

I have that unique tail-center... but I was JUST about to make that 'pontiac' logo light up... along with the STS.

You have a good looking car! yours is x3 better than mine (until I paint it black) j/k about that.... but I am painting it black.

Re: 1985 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM SE

Looks like your hatch had a wrap around spoiler on it at one point. Notice the clips on the sides, thats how it attaches. Sweet lookin car none the less tho. I like the uniquness of the 85/6 SEs. The SE hood is pretty neat, Ive only seen one other late SE. Sweet deal on a clean rare car.
