Anyone else looking for one of these? I'm definitely interested in this if we can get a GP together.

I am very interested also and was thinking about posting this very topic myself. There has to be at least five guys here that would like this setup for Christmas. I bet we could get it for 825 or so.

yea definitely. I wouldn't mind getting myself an early xmas gift.. Now to drum up some more guys! We've all seen this thing make incredible numbers in some form or another.
Any more details? what does it come with? what will i need? ect.. I looked at them but I thought they were in the 2500 range?

"FIRST® manifold without electronics. Prices starting at $999.95 All intake manifolds without electronics include all required gaskets, all stainless steel hardware, TPS bracket, throttle bracket, and fuel rails.
"
So they are ~$1000 with everything you need as long as you already have TPI. But the thing is these intakes are making great power and, I think, are really worth it. the $3000 ones are the ones with all the electronics. Stuff that might be nice, but not necessary.
Im interested in one. I've seen some pictures though, and at 1.75", the castings dont look too dimensionally accurate.
I need 1.78" ID to feed my 427 at 4000 RPM for its torque peak.
I would like to hear what first has to say about this. The 427 is a little too big to feed off of an accel base and runners, unless you are shooting for a 3200 RPM peak.
I would also like to know the cross sectional area of the cylinder head end of the intake manifold, as well as the runner length from the plenum to the head. Whatever that is, add 6" to it and you have your runner length.
The FIRST has enough meat in it to feed a 4000 RPM torque peak 454 sbc easy. Just gotta get the size right and on par with runner length.

I was going to say. I remember someone porting these runners heavily, and i believe they got them over 1.9" runner ID/OD, which is more than enough to feed almots any small block.

Properly ported, they will feed any size small block I can come up with. Problem is most people port them so large they will only work higher up in the powerband, out of the optimal range of tuning for runner length.
Both the cross sectional area needs to be constant, runners smooth/turbulence free and match the runner length to take advantage of the tuning effect these manifolds were designed to deliver. Going to big ruins the effect and mismatches the runner length and cross section of the intake.
These are great on larger ci motors or people wanting to get a higher peak torque figure than 4000 RPM.
I sent in a writeup on properly porting a TPI intake for retaining the tuned effect. We'll see if it gets posted up.
FWIW, a 1.9" diameter is good enough to flow for peak torque at 4398 RPM on a 454ci sbc. Too high up to take advantage of the runner length, unless you have an even larger small block to lower the peak torque rpm. But you can only get them so big...
If we can get prices posted, I bet more people would be interested. I know I wouldn't mind giving one of these a try if the price is right. The stock TPI is flatlining at 3700 right now with the heads / cam combo I'm running on the GTA.
funny, the guys on the vette forum who want to start a GP are pointing this way and here folks are pointing their way.
I interested but I need all the electronics and FIRST says they won't tune it for my edelbrock RPM cam. Makes it tough to decide.
Just buy a tpi setup on ebay that comes with good electronics. You can find them for good deals nowadays. GM electronics will work great. Can't someone else tune your intake to your cam?
Yes, there are some guys on the Corvette C4 forum looking into a First Intake group purchase. You need to hook up with them for more buyers.
i dont have an account with that particular forum. if you do, you might shipping em over here, or at least getting someone in touch with us? 2 forums are better than one. Bigger discount.
If you dont have an account just link me to the board/thread you saw they were pointing here, and I'll make an account and try to make something happen if i have time.
OK i posted up a link over there. We'll see if anyone wanders in and joins the cause. I sen FIRST and email and I'm hoping to get a respones tomorrow on what pricing we might get.
"The price will depend on the number of guys that would purchase them. If you guys can come up with 6 or more we would get you the first tpi set up for $825 each. Otherwise we could go $900 for less than 6. If anyone has any questions, please have them contact us and we will do our best to answer them. We will be putting an end to our holiday offer Jan. 15th, however if we are contacted with a confirmation of purchase by then, we will extend the pricing past the 15th.
825 would be a GREAT deal for the baddest TPI system you can get. Base runners plenum and TB for that price? you cant beat it. It could cost you 1000 just for regular aftermarket stuff, not including the plenum and they dont flow near as much
Did they say if the bolt pattern on that TB is compatible with the bolt pattern on an LS TB? I am not sure if I want to go oval or with a conventional LTx style throttlebody...
I dont want to have to cut off the front of the plenum if I can avoid it, but I need to use an LS style TB. If they arent compatible, would they be willing to sell an intake minus the TB?
I think it would be very easy to use an LS1 style throttle body. You might have to drill and tap four new holes in the front of the plenum for the LS1 style throttle body to bolt on. I think that would be easy to overcome.

The system comes with a TB, and that TB looks very similar to an LS1, so if for some weird reason you can't use the supplied TB, it should still work i would think.. I will ask though.
second, go to http://firstfuelinjection.com/products.htm to check your specific needs. I was told any painting will not be discounted, but will be added in full to the discounted price, which makes sense to me.
lastly, anyone who is honestly interested please chime in so I can get a preliminary list going and see if we have +-6 people needed for the $825 price.
Well this is a little weaker than I expected. Christmas is coming guys. What other intake can you get for 800 bucks that is ready to go with fuel rails and everything.
I spoke with Ken the other day and even though I need the entire system I could be included as part of the six. I'm still debating my options as to tuning.

Okay so we are up to 4. We need at least two more. I'm getting pretty excited for this. I talked to Ken a few days ago and he was saying that all the new intakes have the port exits CNC'ed so that will be a nice match with my AFR heads.
Navion I am glad that you said that I also have AFR heads. Did Ken mention how we go about making the final group purchase? (if we can find two more) Thanks
I didn't discuss how it would actually happen. I would imagine that we would have everybody call and order and then once we had six he would charge us and ship them out. LM skyliner might have talked to him about this in more detail than I.
That would be nice.. But we still got a few weeks so I would think we may be OK.. There is still a less-discounted price for less than 6. So i think either way Some of us will get a deal
Not sure, but another guy just PM'd me and wants in for one on his C4 vette. That should put us at or near 6.. Maybe it's time to ask Ken how to go about ordering them
