Hello, I posted this in the audio section and got no response, so I figured I'd try here... I was wondering if anyone had a pic of what a stock Delco cassette deck with digital diplay would have looked like in an 82 Trans Am. There are so many different looking delco stereos, I'd like to find the right one to give my car back the stock look. Thanks in advance. Steve
Hello, here is what is listed related to the stereo on my build sheet... it's still got the power antenna.... I don't know what the heck UN9, or UP8 are though.
UE8 CLOCK ELECTRIC DIGITAL
UM6 RADIO: AM/FM STEREO, SEEK AND SCAN, CLOCK, AUTO REVERSE CASSETTE
UN9 RADIO SUPPRESSION EQUIP
UP8 RADIO STEREO INSTL PROVISIONS
U75 POWER ANTENNA
I have a manual for the stereo that came with the car that has 6 different stereos in it, including plain radio and 8 track. I was able to narrow it down (I think) to the cassette with digital clock and found a perfect match at a wrecker (to the illustration in the manual). Basically my concern is the knobs have 'chrome' accents on them which doesn't match the rest of the interior, and being that 99.9% of all firebirds I see have an aftermarket stereo in them and the illustration in the manual is black and white (AND a drawing) I have nothing to compare it to.
Other than that the harness plugs right in and everything... I just want to make sure it's 100% right as my car is 99% bone stock.
Thanks again! Steve
I started my last post before the pic was up.... (thanks for the pic!) that is very close to what I have, the only big differences are there is NO power button- it turns on by the volume knob... AND the buttons don't go in the same order (Scan, Seek, 1, 2,3,4)... Mine goes (Scan, 1 ,2,3,4, Seek)...
i have an 84 s/e one somewhere around here, ill never use it, sell cheap if i can find it, i have bezel too, goes around a/c controls too, flat and black
