If i'm not mistaken, this speedo was a 3rd party aftermarket item. They used to be advertised in the magazines.

$179 for a guage cluster??? Nice to see the cluster idling about 1200 rpm though!

LOL

HTH!

I was under the impression they came in the early 80's pace cars. Is that a possibility?

NO. The 82 Pace Car had an 85 mph, double needle speedo. Their were some dealer over-the-counter upgrades for a 140, but not 160. The 160 were aftermarket.

Yep, I keep images of rare and usual parts and yours is the only one I've ever seen. Why didn't you post it earlier? Hey, that's a pretty rare looking garage floor too! Never seen one quite that color.

I heard that there was some law in the 80's that cars couldn't have more than an 85mph speedo... but I don't know what years that applied to.

I have an old Car Craft with that double-needle 160 in it... some aftermarket company made it. Same with the 140 speedo with Z28 on it.

Sorry for kind of bringing this back from the dead, but I have seen a 160 mph speedo in some 2nd gen t/a's And it looks like the gauge in the top pic is one by the looks of the font and look at how many digits, (5) I bet it is out of 2nd gen.
