Same here. I sent out for the invoice in the very begining of January and have'nt heard a thing yet. Though she had mentioned that their collection of Firebird invoices aren't complete, so maybe that's the problem Oh well..
I sent a reminder about 3 weeks ago and I just got this response....
For your vehicle information, you need to contact Pontiac Historical Services at the attached e-mail address. There will be a fee involved for this request. www.phs-online.com

Wow, i just got mine yesterday. Found out my car was purchased in the same town i was born in. The dealership was right down the street from the hospital. It was delivered almost one year after i was born.
i just got my invoice via an attached .pdf file in an e-mail, so check your inboxes

this is so neat. my car was setting new at a dealership in cleveland, tn (not more than 20 miles away from me)! priced on 5/25/89 and delivered on 6/05/89. pretty accurate since on the driver door sticker it says 5/89.
i wonder if the dealer didn't get some kind of discount on my car when new. on the invoice it lists MSRPs for the options and they got it for cheaper... hmm... MSRP for my car was $15,741 with all the options it has, but instead since they got some sort of discount or price adjustment or something, all in all it was $13,939.99.
hmmm, maybe i will e-mail it again when i get home. Haven't heard anything at all!! I could handle it coming to me in .pdf!! I have been waiting since January and you got it in a week or so!! Weird!!
Ive been waiting since late December to early January. This news excited me back then, Ive sent maybe 3 emails requesting the invoices to verify if my car is in fact a genuine GTA but I have received nothing in the mail nor emails confirming they got my request.
I think this is something Jenn was doing, and some of the others might not be willing to help like she has. However she should be back from leave pretty soon, so I would imagin it would take off again. BTY, Most of us have lived a minimum of 16 years without it, I think waiting a little longer will not kill us.
no axe i just got mine today i got excited last week when i saw a think envelope that said gm on it...too bad it was for a recall for a cavalier that was totaled in novemeber, but today i got mine my jaw hit the floor my car cost $20,000 in 89 every damn option though except that rare 1LE
I just emailed too. I've been the original owner of 3 thirdgens, so she'll be busy tracking my stuff. One was totalled by the person I sold it to, one was stolen and never recovered(my 1983 Z28 L69), and I still have my Formula.
I'm wondering, and I asked her about this, is there anyway at all to findout if a car's VIN is currently registered anywhere? Or if anyone has ever enquired about it--maybe even this way, through her service? I'd desparately like to findout whatever became of my 1983 L69 Z28!
It's likely that it became "parts," so if the VIN's being used, it's probably not the real car. But I'd even like to know that. I'll findout for myself if it's the original car, believe me, lol.
LA,
There is no way to tell what happens to a car once you sell it. Sometimes even a junkyard does not report it. I have an ECM from an 86 Camaro at a junkyard that was in a fire, when I ran it on CARFAX it came back clean. Your best bet would be to go to CARFAX and figure it out there, GM would have no clue.
But what GM might have a clue about is if someone's enquired about the history of the serial number for my stolen 1983. That's what I asked Jenn about, because I'd assume that records of these(our) transactions with her have been kept.
You asked for info about your car, so a record of that has probably been kept. And most of these cars have probably had several owners, so it's possible that there's been another enquiry about the same serial number, for which there would also be a record. But since my stolen car should never have had any owners after me, no one should've ever requested any info from her about it. But if they did, she would have a record of that. And if so, I'd like to know that.
I thought of this because of the thread "83Z28 invoice" on this forum. The serial number on his car came back with info for a totally different car--one exactly like my stolen car, except his invoice is rather vague about the paint color, which appears to be red(mine was black). And the car he has seems to have been made-up out of many cars with options from several different model years. So it's likely that the serial number on his car is from a stolen car, which probably means his car was also a stolen car.
So that's all I'd hope for out of GM. But for more, yes, Carfax is a good idea, thanks. I'll also check to see what I can findout registration-wise, too. Thanks for that.
Don't worry, I don't expect to get my car back, or even to find any trace of it, lol. But it would sure be interesting to know if it's currently, or has been, out there somewhere.
I sent another e-mail a few days ago with my original e-mail attached. I sent my original January 11th and have heard nothing and I haven't heard anything from this last one either!!
Just received mine for my California IROC by mail today. Don't know why I got it so soon. I just emailed for it this past Monday, and received it on Saturday (5 days).
I just emailed 4 days ago, and I got an email from Trish today confirming they've sent for my information. Dunno what that means in terms of me getting it, though.
I'm posting from home today. I had my baby girl on Feb. 1 and just now logged in to see what's been going on with these requests. I've decided not to go back to the Archive, which was a really hard choice to make. I *loved* my job, but I just can't see leaving my sweetie with a stranger all day long. The bad news is that these invoice requests are REALLY low priority to the folks at the Archive, and they're really swamped right now. I've been trying to work something out where I could still do this part of my job from home, but no luck. Since I was a contractor the chances of me being able to do ANYTHING from home or even part-time are very slim.
Best of luck on your invoice requests. My suggestion would be (as usual ) be patient.
Yes, first and formost, congrats on the new baby!:lala:
Second, thanks again for getting these out for us. I just got mine a few days ago. Who knew my junkyard $600 '91 Firebeast was sold brand new for $14,663.
WooHoo...I GOT A DEAL!!
(We would like to strike the previous message. We got excited and forgot the current condition of said car, for we need a nose piece and to replace most of the interior. We now return you to the post already in progress...)
Sadly though, my options list isn't as big as Mr.Dude's. All I list is K34 (cruise w/ accel. features), W68 (Sport appearence Package, the selling point for me:hail: ), and 1SC (Option Package #2). Well, that and it's a v6...

i got mine a few days ago!! took about 2 weeks from time i emailed her. hell yeah!! i was soo excited ! thanx soo much for posting it..you kick allmighty ***! :hail:
I requested mine on 3/20 and received it in the mail on 3/29. I'm in Wisconsin so it probably only took a couple of days to get here. So, someones still sending them out.
Does anybody recognize or know what font that is. Mine looks just like MrDudes above. Mine is crooked on the paper and I wanted to recreate it. If anybody knows, let me know.
Also, the key code wasn't blacked out on mine either.
D'oh! The invoice that came back had 2 numbers transposed in the VIN. I thought it was kind of odd that may car was marketed/sold in Japan.
Anyhow, anyone with a '90 TA who thinks that their car may have come from that side of the world and hasn't heard from GM PM me and I'll send it if its yours.
Got mine last week and I'm in the United Kingdom. Details seems to correspond with what I got from previous owner of my 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am. Even got the key code....
Thanks Jenn, really appreciate your efforts. This is really cool and informative information.
