im getting an 85 Iroc-Z

hey guys you all should no me as owning the 83 z28 camaro on here that is black with white racing stripes, well ill be selling that car in about 2 weeks and have found my self a nice fixer upper 85 IROC-Z for $1400 the body does not have any rust what so ever but the reason im getting it so cheap is because the interior is in need of help(missing head liner and ripped seats) and the tranny is done in it wich is an outomatic it has a 305 TPI engine in it and has t tops the car has ruffly 93000 miles on it doors are perfect but need new pins and the ground affex are all perfect except for one crack in front right hand side of ground affex. my question is will this car be a night and day difference from my last 83 wich had an all stock suspension i know the iroc-z in 85 had soem improvements so it should be better then my old 83 Z right?
also is this a bad car being its a real iroc-z makes me alot happyer also. oh yeah and the t tops do not leak on this one eather the car realy doesnt have any rust at all.
all it needs is new door pins, tires and rims, tranny, and a head liner, all in all i think its a good deal but what do you guys think the car is black and has been sitting for about 3-4 years un touched but one turn of the key and it fires right up with out a problem . but wont go any ware do to the tranny being blown i think i will put a 5 speed in it instead of another auto thow because i got sick of my automatic in my 83 and if i go with a standered if i blow the clutch out of it its only like 100-150 bucks to replace it .

Car: 85 IROC
Engine: L-69 305
Transmission: T-5 manual
sounds like a decent buy to me

then again i spent 3000 for mine and i never even new if it ran, and with a totaled suspension

from what ive seen the handling is an extreme upgrade compared to the early ones (comparing it to my friends 83 bird)

have fun with the tranny swape

I really have nothing to compare to, so my opinion is sadly lacking; however, I've owned my 85 IROC for a number of years. I've had a marvelous time messing around with it. I say buy the car and dirty your hands.

i'd say grab it fast before someone else does. that year is getting hard to find. and if the body has no rust that is the true value of the car. you can get a t5 swap for 750 plus shipping from hawks or search the jy for one. the interior you can get the entire kist for headliner and such for a few hundred and find some nice 4th gen seats and you will be rolling in style.

i would buy deals like that all day if i could find them.

it also has power windows and an over head console i might add that both work in very great shape. it looks like it did have AC at one time also but soem one took it out of the engine compartment there is no AC tank the just an empty spot ware it used to me. and it has a B&M maga shifter in it (prolly the reason the tranny is blown in it lol to much power shifting)

and yes like i said it is covered in leaves and such but there is no rust what so ever on this car i lifted the hood and all there is are pine needles here and there but i plan on taking a pressure washer to it and washing the car like 5 times but ohnestly i could not find any rust at all i looked under neath the car and you wouldnt believe how clean it was the floor pans are in great shape no signs of rust at all they are solid.

the car is black on the out side with a red interior and has red IROC-Z stickers on the doors

Re: im getting an 85 Iroc-Z

lo hey there guys update i got the car for 1000 bux it was a clarkson colledge tech car that the students worked on lol changed my mind about putting a 5 speed in it a had a TH 400 with 28000 miles on it given to me so ill do that swap instead...my plans are 18 inch c6 corvette rims ss big block hood 91-92 z high rize spoiler 91-92 z ground affects , 2 inch drop its got a 3.42 posi disc rear so that will d for now.. car will prolly be done up viper blue with white racing stripes... and im a tard cause i used to have an 86 iroc so i do indeed know how it should handle . my question is how does the 85 5.0 tpi motor compare to the later year 5.0 tpi engines im told the 85 got a hotter cam making it put out 215 horse. but yeah this car needs alot of tlc but over all its rust free so im happy thats all i wanted ... i know ware there is an 87 gta that is all rotted out with a 5.7 tpi motor and good tranny with 87000 miles on it i can get for 500 bux so il prolly get that and do the 350 swap cause a hate 305s ...
