That car is krazzycowgirls 82 Pace Car.

They are nice cars, but they aren't the fastest by any stretch. Before buying any pace car, 82 or 93, consider the cost of te decals and the paint. If you want a pace car for the status of the car itself, expect to pay more than a regular Z because of the special interiors and the paint scheme.

They only made 6360 of them in 82. The values of these, like most of the other 3rd gens, are pretty low right now, but I am pretty sure they will appreciate rather well. I really doubt that they will ever reach the cost of a 67 or 69, but the value is sure to rise considerably higher than a "standard" Z28 of the same era.

According to several Camaro "experts" including the International Camaro Club. THE hot ticket in the 82 Pace Car is the Crossfire engine, and 4 wheel disc brakes which that car has.

If she was not on the otherside of the US, I would pick it up...

Of the two motors you could get in that car, the Crossfire is the better of the two. The other (LG4) had 140hp.

why do so many look down on cfi, the lg-4's feedback carb was as much trouble if not more than cfi, if I had to choose between the two cfi would be the one I'de pick.

the pace car restored would be one hell of a nice ride, even in stock form they weren't fast by todays standards, but who cares they sure can turn heads wherever they go.

well heres some more pics of it, how much trouble do you guys think it would be to get it in pretty good shape?

http://hpiv.net/ipw-web/gallery/82pacecar?page=1

and if i do resore it, it will most likely be used for daily driving in spring, summer, fall to work/school and back. as i have a 79 TA i was going to restore for that purpose, would this be a better route? it does require a lot less work then my 79.

You can get the parts from one of several sources; Ebay, Classic Industries, Paddock, ect..

Decal set will run you close to $1000, but when you realize how many there are...it is not a bad price. The real only "differences" between the Pace Car and the regular Z is the paint and interior. There are several small differences such as the centercap inserts, but pretty much any Z part will work on the Pace Car.

How many other chances will you have to have a "Pace Car"

Tom

The seller of the car knows where to get all the parts. She has already located the interior, and has probably documented the best price for the decals. Check with her.

In response to your earlier ? on total price, break it down.
1. 2 tone paint, good quality - ~$3000
2. Decals - $900
3. Interior - ~$1000, maybe more for all parts.
4. any body panels or body work - maybe $500
5. Mechanical and brake work - $500 - $1500.

Worse case scenario with the numbers listed only - $7000 + car.

im just wraggling with myself trying to figure out if it will be worth all the work/dollars. it may be worth quite a bit, but will there be demand for it down the road?? i know of a few guys that had 25th anniversary TAs and had mountian loads of trouble trying to unload em. one guy had a rare 25th TA drop top with m6 and only 30kmiles ended up selling for 9800.

personally i like the look of it and im pretty sure its a rare car in my neighborhood.

Can't answer on the mods issue, but you have to look at our current economy. I have a 93 Indy Pace Car. There was only 645 made. 1/10 of the 82 Pace cars. Because of the economy, I can't sell the car. People are holding on to their money right now. The economy goes in waves and we're at a low right now. It'll pick up again and then the car values will increase. Once the economy stabilizes and people start getting jobs, promotions, bonuses, etc., then the demand will come back.

Anyone interested in a 93 Z28 Pace Car, 1 of 645 made, 30k miles for $14500. You pay, I'll ship!

Yea well this is a PACE car not a reg z28 Camaro. one of approx 1590 pace cars produced with the CFI/ 4 disc combo. & the first one to be built (or so I am told) with this combo besides the pace cars.

Some of those prices are rediculous! Do a search for ended auctions on ebay, and you'll see what they really sell for. I could ask $10,000 for my Iroc, doesn't mean it's worth that or that people would ever buy it

sassyherbbassi,

I'm not sure weather you took into consideration that the car is in the US & you're in Canada...
Not too certain but I think it could be a huge hassle getting the car registered in Canada; all depends on what inspections it'll have to go through.

What someone is "asking" for a car, and what someone will actually pay for it, are often 2 different things.

Those cars in typical high mileage condition are "worth" little if any more than any other Z28 or Trans Am of the same age and condition; krazzy's pride in her car notwithstanding. It really doesn't matter how "rare" it is, or whether it's the "first" something or other, or any of that. The reason is real simple: in the world at large, NOBODY CARES. The biggest reason nobody cares about them was, is and will continue to be the same reason that I didn't buy one in 1982, and kept on driving the 79 Z28 I had at the time, and later bought a 83 L69 car instead: they were slug-slow and unexciting. And, there's a significant liability to those after a lifetime of usage, which makes them next to impossible to restore or maintain: nobody makes the correct interior stuff for them, so you can't put the seats and carpet back to the exact way they came. Close, but not exact. So one of them that's been daily driven all these years is essentially already destroyed, as far as its "original" value is concerned. Basically there is no going back.

It's rather pointless to argue with somebody about what their car is worth to them. If krazzy thinks her car is worth more than somebody else wants to pay her for it, then she gets to keep it. Real simple. If somebody comes along and is willing to pay what she wants for it, then that's what it's worth, and you just screwed up by not being willing to pay it, if you really want the car. If you want to buy it and don't want to pay what she's asking, tough. Go find another one at a price you are will to pay, and buy it. All this wrangling about what hers is "worth" is pure mental self-abuse.

Instinct tells me that guy in Cleveland with his "bubble stored" one is going to be running that ad for it for a long time to come before anyone steps up willing to take it off his hands.

Not too certain but I think it could be a huge hassle getting the car registered in Canada; all depends on what inspections it'll have to go through.
already looked into it, would haev been a pice of cake, all you gotta do is pay the taxes on it, take it thru inspection , minor stuff. ive got two buddies that imported in cars one was a mint 95 TA and another a mint 02 C5. its not that hard but since i wont be getting it, im looking on selling the lt1/t56 now.

I happen to agree with ya. As I tell people when I had my Sports card store the vaule of a card is only what someone is willing to pay.

As for my 82 pace car I am not willing to sell it for anything less then $1500 but as the owner of the car that is my option. I just had someone come look at it today & they want all of the camaro pace cars. They already have the last one.

That's a lot of cars... is he collecting the ones that were on the track in 82 (about 140 I think), or just all the pace car look-a-likes made in 82 as well?

No she wants a 67,69, 82, 93,97 & they already have a 2002 brickyard signed by Scott Settlemire & its #3.

I should have said one of every year the camaro paced Indy & the Brickyard.

I dunno .....an '87 vert with 30 something thousand miles just sold for 13,100 on ebay 2 weeks ago......

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2470118405

Or how about this one...18 bids, $20,100.00 reserve not met...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEBI%3AIT

.The prices on low mile 3rd gens are starting to really take off....collectors are starting to add them to their stables.........the rest of the cars prices will follow in a year or two.....but beaters will always go cheap....For example, I know where I can get a rough '67 Camaro with no engine or trans right now for 3000.00. I bought a '69 SS396 convertible 5 years ago with no motor or trans, needed paint and interior, for $2800.00. Sold it a couple weeks later for $6000.00. The guy I sold it to did a rotisserie restoration on it and sold it for $31,000. I watched the same thing happen with muscle cars in the '80s, that is happening now with 3rd gens. The ultra rare models/ ultra low mile cars jump in price first. Then the 'verts and well built modifieds/ well kept higher milage stockers, will follow in a year or 2. The prices on common quality 3rd gens have risen about 1000.00 ..on average over the last year and the price surge is just starting....personally I'm going to buy up all the verts I can get my hands on / afford over the next year...I'm pretty sure a $6000.00 to $7000.00 (excellent condition < 80,000 miles) third gen vert should double in price in around 4 years. If it takes a little longer I'll just keep um till they do get to the price I want and enjoy the h#!! out of them in the mean time...the problem with Z28/IROC/Coupe/t-top cars is that there is literally almost 1,000,000 of them out there. You'll have to have a very nice example to make good money on it in the near future. But don't worry too much there were almost 3/4 million 1st gens produced too.
