I was going through some old pix and found one i had taken of my 84 Firebird. It was a almost no option car, it was a 2.8 V5, 5 speed manaul and had t-tops and the F41 suspension.
It did not have A/C, no power options, no gauges, no tilt, no cruise, no trip odometer, no delay wipers, no rear defrost, no rear spoiler Etc.... anyways i had forgotten about the piece in place of the map pocket it was just a vinal insert put in place of where the map pocket would be. Sorry for the bad pic but it is all i have right now, i do still have the part somewhere, when i find it (i recently moved) i'll snap a pic.
Anyway it got me wondering, is there rpo's for the map pockets? and if anyone else had one on their car? I have not seen another thirdgen with this map pocket delete "plate" (for lack of a better word).

My mom's 86 Firebird (base 6cyl, m5) had that. When I got my Firebird (base 305, 700r4), mine had the "side load" map pocket which I replaced with the full map pocket as soon as I found one in black.
'82 and I'm pretty sure '83 Firebirds that didn't come with a map pocket didn't come with that insert. Instead they just had the Firebird screaming chicken ingraved into the dash.
