Im missing my jack and the brackets to attach the jack and spare wheel. I found one on internet from an 82 Camaro, is it the same one that my 1988 iroc had or is there a difference?

There are two different jack styles. I believe it goes like this, 82-86 and 87-92.
I know its at least 87 as I have a friend with a '87 Z28 and its completely different that my '84 T/A.

So in other words, no an 1982 jack will not fit a 1988 car.

Damn, these things are really hard to find in Sweden , im also looking for the little tube with air for the spare tire.

factory jacks and spares seem plentiful on eBay, my convertible with large footprint tires, I have only the jack in my small trunk, lying loose.

I take it that you have the inflateable spare rather than the "Doughnut." My 77 TA also has this, I just bought a cheap inflator from Wal-mart (or your local parts store) and keep it in the car. The Second get tire has a valve stem like a real tire. This way you don't need to worry about refilling the CO2 bottle.

I took my factory jack out because the noises it makes while I drive drive me nuts,even when I tighten the fastners tight!Now I just have one of those little hydrolic jacks from kragen,It does the job and sits quietly as I drive

my '86 jack is about the same as my '87's was..

About the inflator bottle... do it need to be filled up once in a while? I think mine has never been used, since the tire looks totally unused. But wont the bottle go empty over time? Can it be filled up, or should it be replaced by a new unit? If it can be filled up, to what pressure should it be filled?

The bottle won't loose an appreciable amount of pressure over time. They are basically filled with CO2.

They can be refilled by your local fire extinguisher certification and rebuilding place. The Fire Department might be able to refill them too.

If anyone has a spare bottle i will pay for it as long as you accept Paypal. Ive been looking for a bottle for years but they are almost impossible to find in Sweden.

Come to think about it, have you checked with Osby skroten/scrap yard in Sweden? I bought an axle and some other stuff from them, and they get thirdgens in quite often. I'm sure they have one, arent they the largest US dismantlers in europa?

Yes, they do lose pressure over time... at least, mine did. I recently needed my spare and cannister for the first time in 17 years(original owner here)...

Last summer, heading home to the Antelope Valley, late at night on Angeles Forest Highway(a two-lane mountain road through the wilderness where there are bears, mountain lions, coyotes, deer, etc., where hikers sometimes disappear, and if you go off a cliff in your car, it's not likely anyone will know for a long time), about a 20 minute drive from civilization, I'd just come out of a tunnel, and on a curve there was a large rock(about a foot in diameter) in my lane. I swerved, but not quite enough... impact and immediate HISS! The rock opened up the sidewall.

I happened to be coming up on the only "life" in that middle-of-nowhere area, a little cafe(deserving of a "plug," the Hidden Springs Cafe), so I dove into their gravel lot as the tire went flat. I put on my spare, connected the cannister, and... nothing. Fortunately, the owner was still there, and he found a bicycle tire pump for me to use. :hail:

GM doesn't have those cannisters anymore, and my dealer had no idea where I could get it filled. I searched a few places, and I couldn't find anyplace to refill it. So I bought a compact foot pump that I now keep in the rear storage compartment, which I've since needed AGAIN!

Don't count on that cannister. I HIGHLY recommend to ALL of you... get a small pump or compressor to carry in your cars.

This is near where I had my flat... not an area you want to be stranded at night.
