AS some of you may be aware, previous posts, i am having problems finding out the size of the engine in my 1983 Z28 camaro. The docs say its a 5.7 but that engine was not available that year. I have had a good look around the engine and have found the following numbers. this number ( 14810207 ) was on the engine next to where the engine bolts on to the auto transmission next to that number was 39 GM. On either side of the bottom of the engine are the numbers 207 , used a mirror to see so i think it was a 2 not a 5 ?,. Also the engine is blue. The VIN number for the car is 1G1AP87S8DN1. Any help would be grate as its driving me made not knowing
Could the 3rd # be an 0 and read 14010207 ? If so then you have an 80-85 4 bolt main 350 out of a truck. I got this from http://www.nastyz28.com And http://www.mortec.com has it as a 2 or 4 bolt main.
Also check your vin # again it doesn't read out correctly.
yeah i did type the vin wrong its 1g1ap87s8d. i have now checked that and it matches to a 1983 Z28 5.0 , which is right,. The problem is determining what the engine is. the number that i wrote is right, 14810207, but i cant find that anywhere. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i have just looked at the site you were on about nate1 and the number you said , 14010207, relates to the 350 truck and car between the dates of '80-'85 but i am sure it was an 8 not a 0.
I was looking online with the casting #'s off my motor and found your post. I just pulled a 350 out of my boat with the same casting numbers, and after seacrching believe it to be a 260 HP (possibly higher HP, but I'm waiting to hear back from the manufacturer) Small Block 350 manufactured by Crusader Marine Engines, that's why you couldn't find the number on any of the sites listing casting numbers for Chevy's, and why it is blue.
Thought you would like to know
