nada guides VS. carfax.com

i am looking for a new car and i need to search the vin numbers but when i enter my old 91 camaros vin # (1g1fp23e5ml122682) NADA guides comes up with 24 records and carfax.com only has 17 records. does anyone know why one web site would have more records over anothere web site? do they look for diffrent things?

NADA guides will show every milage report on the car plus registration info as well. Just for kicks, I went ahead and ran it on NADA and it showed that it failed inspection Sept of last year, then passed about 2 months later, car had around 180k miles on it as well.
