what GM should do w/ Fbody

GM: I promise I'll buy a new f-body as soon as I'm out of college. If you cancell production, I'm movin to Ford. There is no way I can afford a $25-35grand car now. What GM doesn't realize is that they need to make the F-body cars more livable. HEll make em out of the Monte Carlo platform, just make em swoopier, wider, and sportier. Who do ya see driven Monte's. Older people in their late 30's or so. Same with most
hi-po F-bodies. Why not scrap the Monte Carlo's and just build the Fbody's on their platform. Monte's are taken the custumors away from the Fbody's. Monte Carlo's are coupes too but have no nuts. Make a liveable, more affordable F-body with the same LS1 or maybe LS6 engine.
Oh ya GM have ya thought of ever advertising?

72,000 miles. SWEET!!

Uh, you can't make an Fbody on the Monte/Impala platform, unless you want it to be FWD!!

Supposedly GM COULD make this platform into a RWD, but the cost of doing so makes it out of the question. Cost is the same reason they won't continue the current platform, either.

I agree they need to make the car more livable if its going to survive. Supposedly now there's a 5th gen prototype thats a V8/RWD that's a 2 door coupe instead of a hatch. I would guess it's built off the next gen Catera platform, as they originally planned?

Have you guys seen the next-gen Firebird? Check out this month's Motor Trend. That Opel roadstser? MT says that its very possible that when the '04 Camaro rolls out, the Firebird will still be non-existant, being replaced by a 2 seat, 4 cylinder Opel-based roadster.

Anyone remember the Fiero??

If they used the monte carlo platform, then it wouldn't be an "f-body". And I have heard that they are thinking about taking the monte carlo platform to rear drive.

Of coarse they think of a lot of stuff.
