Are '87 Z28's with P235/60R15 tires rare?

I remember back in (mid-year) 1987 looking at brand new Z28s on the dealer lot. I came across a few that were equipped with P235/60R15 Eagle GT's on them. At that time, I thought the P215/65R15 Eagle GT was the only tire option available for Z28s.

So, my question is, was 1987 the first and only year for this unique tire size option for the Z28?

Thanks.

Actually, the year was 1986. GM records show only four Z28's were optioned with P235-60/VR-15 Goodyear Eagle blackwall tires. I almost ordered a new '86 Z28 with these tires back in 1986 but decided not to after seeing this "option" cost $85!! Definitely not worth it. But knowing now that only four came with it, I would have done it!! What a rare option. Hindsight is truly 20-20.

Thanks Willie!

Wow, only "4" came with those tires? I didn't know they were that rare.

I thought it was 1987, but it may have been around 1986 or so when I saw one or possibly two Z28s with those tires. It was "late" in the model year when I saw them.

I was always going to the GM dealers to look at the new F-bodies back in those days. LOL!

Hard to believe only four, but that's what the Camaro White Book states.

These optional Z28 tires were a one-year only offering. After selling only four units, I can see why Chevy dropped the option.

An interesting fact is that the P235 tires were v-rated. The standard P215 tires were not speed rated.

Me too. I used to go every Sunday morning (early) and walk the lots. My wife used to think I was crazy... Yeah, crazy about Camaros!! Still am.

Actually, it was 1985. To get the 305 TPI/auto, or the 305 HO/5-speed you had to get the 235/65/R15 tires, or 245/50/R16's and posi.

This book was also about the Trans ams, Camaros were probably different, and who knows how accurate the book was. I don't remember the title off hand.
