I don't think it will get over 10k. even if it is an original car, people aren't ready to spend big bucks on a 3rd gen yet. Just IMO.

cheers!!

Well, I see they are misrepresenting it at 165hp. The 82 4 speed was only available in the LG4. My dad's has just a few miles over 20k and is the 4 speed. Its not rare to have a 4 speed Pace Car. I have seen more 4 speeds than autos.

Sorry to sound stupid here but what is a LG4? I have a very low milage 82 Z28 with a 305 & a 4 speed.

More miles than I like. Anything north of 4K miles is starting to get up there IMO ....

I don't think this car is ready for big $$. 1LE's are more desireable. Can't see more than $ 10-12K.

Seriously??

That's insane.

Sure the car is really clean, but it's ugly and slow. I can't imagine wanting it that bad. (just my .02)

I see nice TTA's for sale for that kind of money. To me, that's the only 3rd gen that I see really achieving collector status.

Unreal. Someone got ripped off on that '87 GTA auction. That is a $12-13K car all day long. The sellers fee is 10% and buyers fee is 8%.

That car sold for MORE than Firehawk or TTA money. Not even a totally loaded one, either. Missing digital dash and leather.

Some of you guys are nay sayers as to the potential value. I will agree with the fact that the LG4 is a slug and at 145hp, is not as desirable as others. With that being said, I would think that this car would not attract the "bidding war" that other more desirable cars would attract. If this car got that kind of money at this show, then I truly believe that 3rd gens are moving into collectible status. A hemi Cuda will attract the "bidding war", but an 82 Camaro Z28? Many have said that BJ auctions sell at top dollar because of the prestige and the "I'm gonna win" factor. Again, on an 82 Camaro Z28? My dad's car, which is more complete than this one appears, was also appraised close to this amount. Maybe it wasn't too far out of line! Just remember, these cars are 25 years old now. In 1994, a 69 Z28 sold for less money than this car sold for.

The only thing going for that '82 Z28 is the INDY graphics. They had to replace the motor with a stronger one for the track because the stock motored car was too slow!!!

Just an update on this car.. My father spoke with a friend of his that was at BJ and saw this car. The friend informed us that the paint was full of swirl marks, the rockers were scuffed up and the interior looked like a 25 year old low mileage car that was owned by a regular person, not an enthusiast. The reason for the distinction is an enthusiast would try to keep the car in a much cleaner state. This car was just a low mile, 25 year old car. If it sold for over $16k at BJ, the my dad's car is worth over $20k at BJ. Not saying that's the real value of his, but side by side with the $16k car, my dad's would reach a higher value. My father took another 1st place trophy yesterday in the 1980-present category beating out a Grand National!

I was just gonna post the same thing. Both me and my buddy thought this car was far from perfect in person. Cleaner than 90% of thirdgens on the road, but not 16k worth.

I would much rather have a 1LE, TTA, or Firehawk for the coin that car got.
