Are you serious? There is no way that car has 100,000 miles on it. The pictures make that real clear. I know there are a lot of fakes out there but it does not seem like this is one. You guys are looking too hard. I was in a car show with a 16,000 mile '85 white RS and it looked like this car-like no one every touched it. Even still had the new car smell.

Yesterday, I was telling a friend of mine, if I ever get a 2nd 3rd Gen, I wanted an early 84 or 85 H.O 305 5 speed car etc .... in other words this car. I started getting thoughts about bidding on it the instant I saw it because I have $15,000 in cash on hand for a car project.
Re: 1984 Chevrolet : Camaro Z-28 6 miles!! never titled
IMO - They either lied about the mileage, or are below average ebay seller. If the mileage makes the car so valuable, as someone else noted, the seller surely would've posted a more clear picture of the odometer. (One pic has the odometer in it, but it's not quite readable, and isn't even the focus of the picture!) So, they're stupid, or they're a liar! Look at the Ebay feedback - 9 negative reviews - which sound like legitimate complaints, most without a seller response. I wouldn't care if the Ebay Seller had a letter from the GM CEO verifying his story, I wouldn't buy from such an individual.
If this car is legit, the Ebay seller should have done just a little bit more work to convince potential bidders that the 6.5 miles are accurate. I also noticed that this Ebay seller doesn't currently have anything for sale.
I too noticed how dirty the inside of the gas tank lid looked - not dusty, but grimy, as cars get from the gas vapors.
It's amazing that they did not accept the $16,000 highest bid.

The bumpers not matching and the hood stops having paint on them is how these cars were stock. You can see it best usually on a factory paint monotone car like an IROC-Z in which nothing quite matched perfectly.....the metal, the bumpers, and the GFX/spoilers were all slightly different shades.
IMO, and from my experiences with these cars, that car is legit.

Re: 1984 Chevrolet : Camaro Z-28 6 miles!! never titled
I spoke to the guy who put the car on Ebay during the auction. The car is at a dealership, and not in an individual collection. I, too, feel that the $16k is approaching the true value of the car, but I know of an 85 non Iroc locally that changed hands at $20k with only a few hundred miles on it. When you get down to these super low mile cars, pricing can be hard to predict, unlike the high mileage drivers that make up the bulk of what is left of these 3rd gen cars. The car looks legit to me, and my 82 was that color combo when new and exhibited the same color shifts between the urethane bumpers and the other steel body panels. I'd sure like to have it, that's for sure. It may possibly be the lowest mileage 3rd gen Z anywhere, and, if not, can't be more than one of handful with that low mileage, if it can be proven. Oldtimer.

I know this seller,Contemporary Motorcar, I drive by his dealership 3 times a week in Erie,PA. His name is George Lyons(owner of the dealership) and his reputation and history in the collector car world is such that he wouldn't even consider selling anything fraudulently. This car is what he says it is. I've met him, spoke with him and looked at a few cars in his personal collection. He is a man of his word, nothing less.
That being said, there will still be doubters about this car. But I can bear witness to this man to be an honest seller of extremely high caliber cars.

Which is exactly the problem with this car... My bet is that yes it is only 6.5 miles old. At the very worst less then a few hundred miles. The main problem with the car as I see it was that it wasn't stored properly. Why all of the rust and corrosion on the front of the motor and water pump? My 83 Z28 with 200,000+ miles on her has less rust there. The wiper blade arms also look dirty/corroded...
Looks to me like this car spent a good deal of its storage time outside or in a very damp garage.
As as posted above, tires are wrong, radio's knobs are wrong.
It is very interesting that there are no pictures of the undercarriage which I'm betting is also dirty and corroded as heck.
If you are going to pitch a car as a near perfect survivor... it needs to be perfect; this car ain't.
And BTW $16,000 was about what it was worth in 1984. If the dealer had sold the car then for $16K and put the money into treasury bills and collected the interest he would have about $46,000 now...
PS those seats were considered major ugly in 1982/83/84 very few were ordered that way. Those are somewhat rare...
Re: 1984 Chevrolet : Camaro Z-28 6 miles!! never titled
Yes, the sad thing about this poor car is that even though it may only have 6.5 miles on it, this isn't because it was properly stored and cared for . . . it's because it was neglected.
Re: 1984 Chevrolet : Camaro Z-28 6 miles!! never titled
Alot of people on ebay think there cars are worth way more get a reality check on ebay. You will see a car on e bay that has a rediculous price and after 3 weeks the price has dropped drastically. The there are the ones like the 80 Firebird which says it is the Knightrider prototype. I just about fell out of my chair laughing at that one. They started working on the car 4 years bsfore the show started. LOL

Does your '83 still have its original, 24 year old water pump on it? I'd guess not. It doesn't take many years for raw cast iron to get surface rust, no matter what the conditions are.

Looks to me like it was stored ok. But naturally, in a climate such as PA, where you'll get extreme and changing conditions(heat/cold/wet/dry/humidity/etc.), there's no doubt somethings would've been affected, even while stored.

Tires are correct. Note that the window sticker shows them as an option, standard size but as black walls(for a credit).
Radio knobs were inconsistent in the early years. My '82 had those same knobs, and the EQ radio(like in this car) that I bought directly from Delco to swap into my '82(then kept and installed in my '83) also had those knobs.

I'd doubt it, but again, given its geographic location, it's very possible that it could have some.

Given its age, it looks pretty darn perfect to me. Afterall, it might only have 6.5 miles on it, but it rolled off the line 23 years ago, not today.

But no matter how its condition looks in the pix, if I had that kind of cash onhand for something like this, I'd certainly be able to afford to take a trip to look at the car in person before I spent my money on it. So if someone doesn't check it out first, then it's as much his own fault if it turns out to be something other than advertised(in his own opinion).

They are somewhat rare, but, and this is just my opinion, they're prolly rare, not because they were considered ugly(because I don't think they were), but because they were a $600+ option that most dealers(and people) simply didn't want to order.
I do apologize, though, for dissecting your post. It's not personal.
The car looks good to me. But like any used car, it's only worth what someone's willing to pay for it.
Re: 1984 Chevrolet : Camaro Z-28 6 miles!! never titled
Regarding the rust and corrosion on the front of the engine, my opinion is that it's pretty bad as well for a car that's only got 6.5 miles on it and has hardly (if ever) seen the elements.
My car, even though it's only 18 years old, is still all original (including everything under the hood, even the waterpump). I know the previous owner (I'm 2nd owner since '99) and the complete history. It has been driven in rain, and in the past has been stored in an uncontrolled humidity environment in southern Manitoba, Canada (which has very high humidity in summer), plus it has 70,000 miles on it, yet it still has far less engine surface rust and corrosion than that car. Maybe it has to do with the particular type of cast iron or quality? I don't know why, but that seems to be case.
My driver's side door decals are in far better shape.
I wonder what happened to the pedals? They look like crap. Are they showing wear with only 6.5 miles or did the last person who sat in there have muddy shoes?
Overall, I do agree it's a great car in awesome condition. It just has a few minor quirks that mine, even after being driven it's whole life, doesn't have.

Ya my car is on its third water pump... but none of them looked like that before they were replaced.

I actually did factory order my car in 1983 and was ready to spend the 600+ for the Recaros... But when I saw what that did to the interior... OMG no... The car already had enough flash and disco was dead (or dieing ) I passed... As I recall the "upscale" interior was not a cheap option either $400-500 and you see lots of these in the wrecking yards... Of all of the 82-84 third Gens I've taken a look at in the wrecking yards (well over 200)... about 1/3 have the upscale interior... But I have only seen one car with the "CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO" interior in person.

No problem dissect away!
I missed the biggest problem with this car... OK you've just bought it, you spend a few hundred fixing the radio, the mats, the pedals, cleaning the rust off of the motor and tuning the RWOL tires right side out...
Now what do you do with the car?
You can't drive it... as soon as you drive it anywhere it is worth only a little more then a really nice 1984 L69 Z28 with out A/C... drive the car for a year and it goes from $27,000 to $7,000 really fast....

That is the "standard" ventilation control...
Heat, Vents, defrost and that's about it...
There are also two "foot vents" that are opened and closed on controls at the base of the steering column... That part of this car is correct... My 83 is exactly like this... Except my car still has the correct (black) knobs on the radio.
