L69 air cleaner restoration

hey-
i'm restoring an L69 air cleaner that i got off ebay for a decent price. the thing's rusted but its not all that bad- its just surface rust and i already got most of it off.

the question i have is what kind of primer/ paint would you guys suggest i use to paint it. i was thinking of using one of those rust treatment things that stops rust and turns into primer for the first coat and then using engine enamel with ceramic to dissipate as much heat as possible.

any suggestions?
