It seems like a good price to me. Double check the VIN to make sure it really is a 350. It's been said here a thousand times before, but I'll say it again. Every seller thinks his 305 is a 350. You want to look at the 8th digit in the VIN. Here's a breakdown for you:
Nothing special there except shiny paint. L98+ttops is not unusual for 1989.
The leather isn't original or even a factory option with those seats. I'd say treat it like any other 89 Formula 350.
edit: the price seems fair, assuming it runs and drives fine.
yea i know it isnt original interior the guy selling it works at a upolstry shop where the car is sitting at now. stupid me forgot to check the vin when i was there ill go back tomarrow night since ill be out that way anyway. i know its nothing special but im looking to get into another 3rdgen thats stock that i could drive reguarly and this one seams decent and stock
These cars are old enough that even the ones that have been well maintained are going to have problems. I wouldn't expect to get into one and drive it trouble free for long periods of time.
drove it today runs smooth needs map sensor though but has new tranny and starter the ypipe needs tightened up he had to remove it to get to starter but other than that it runs and rides smooth and i got on it and no hesitation got on it at about 20 it chirped but it had more but i didnt mash as hard as i could either but he has another buyer and if it falls though im next on list if i want it
drove it today runs smooth needs map sensor though
well the only way it could have a map sensor is if it was converted to speed density or if its a 305 tbi cause tpi cars only had map sensor if they were 90+ or unless you meant to type maf sensor instead
anyway, if theres no rust on it, sounds like a deal to me

are you kidding? the exhaust is right in the way, especially if its a larger custom exhaust
Maybe so. (w/ larger custom exhaust). However, no I'm not kidding.
Just changed the starter in my '89 (TPI motor w/stock 2 cat exhaust) Didn't need to remove the pipes. The pipe wasn't even close to being in the way.
Did a '88 friend's TBI 305 Camaro a few years ago. (Stock single cat exhaust) This one was tight, but I was able to remove and replace starter w/no need to remove pipes.
Sounds fishy to me. I've never had to remove the pipes to remove a starter from a third-gen.
Well it entirely depends which starter is on the car. There were a few different starters used over the years. It depended on whether you had an auto or stick, and on the year. In fact the same engine could use different starters depending on the year. IE: A 92 LB9 auto uses a smaller starter than an 87 LB9 auto, but an L98 from either year uses the same starter. The largest one will not clear the y-pipe.
Looks pretty decent, I would consider it personally... I sold an 87 Formula 350 (hard top) that was beat up for $2200... You might be able to turn it for 3000 or 2500...
