Has anybody bought the “Firebird Trans Am 82-84 Seat Upholstery Kit from Hawks”?

I’m looking to replacing the seat covers on my 83 T/A and was wondering if anybody has bought the Firebird Trans Am 82-84 Seat Upholstery Kit from Hawks?

How close is the pattern?
Does it have the pocket in the seatbacks?

Anyone have a pics of them installed.

I bought some 82 PMD seat covers 2 years ago and they turned out great (with a little work), just wondering about 82-84 covers.

sorry to hijack, but where did you get your replacement PMD seat covers? I have black leather PMD seats and my driver seat only has two bad spots, one being a rip and the other has the leather seperated but not a complete tear yet. Oh and the seam on the bottom cushion is seperated at the back under where the seat back is. I thought of getting it repaired, but probly better off getting new covers, but cant find them ANYWHERE.

looks like we got the same car....are your PMD seats leather?

If they are the qaulity of the door panels they are complete crap. I have a set of black door panels sealed in a box, I would sell them, but would feel bad once they got them. I have also heard complaints on the sail panels.

I am looking for grey leather as well. I don't want vinyl either.

What is PMD?

PMD = Pontiac Motor Division

There are the open head rest seats found in the 82 firebird with deluxe interior.

hgffrank – I bought replacement seat covers from Hawks, they turned out great, for my 83

You can have them made with your own materials but it will cost extra.

Now I’m looking to replace the seat covers for my 83 and want to know it anyone has any pics, I’d like to know how close the pattern and construction is to the original.

Year One: http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/f...ain2.asp?cat=G They have seat covers and claim to be the "Correct Pallex Cloth"

Front seats $300 back seats $214

I just called Year One, apparently they get their interiors from PUI, ( http://pui.cc ) If you want to have them send you a sample go to their website and ask for some material samples... They also supply several companies like the Paddock, NPD etc...

Re: Has anybody bought the “Firebird Trans Am 82-84 Seat Upholstery Kit from Hawks”?

I never seen a Hawk's version, but they are just great people over there. I did buy new seat covers from the defunct third gen resource ( was that there name ) back about 8 years ago and they were nice when they were put in, just turned to crap in about 1 year, garbage. Be careful and research, John above has great sample. Another thing is it is a PAIN IN THE BUTT to do that, was not worth the time and then having the old seat cushion under the foam worn out bad, I would just search for a good upholstery shop and pick a sample and have them do it.
