Rwdtech, anything is possible in the scale modeling world. You should get the bird kit-it has stick wheels but they are chromed. If you want them to look the stock color, you have to strip them with drano or castrol super clean and repaint them with aluminum or some silver color of your choice. I have both kits you speak of and anything 1/24 or 1/25 can be modified with evergreen styrene or other ways to fit the rear deck. It shouldn't be that hard.
Cadillac, just use a primer surfacer for those paints. They are considered "hot" lacquers and require another coating so that they dont melt into the plastics. Or try any testors equivalent.

XL, I prefer the one I have in plastic. I paid a pretty penny for it on ebay, but the way it looks when done and the decals are very good. However, 1991 and 92 models of Firebird are my very favorite. I love the noses and tails except for the Trans Am. I've always been partial to the Formula.
Go on ebay, but be patient. They make a 91-92 GTA, that has the correct gfx kit, and has a base spoiler optional to make a base Bird. I posted a pic of it awhile back, so it won't let me post another. Check it out if you can find it.
I made a vert for a friend that had one. Came out pretty good too. I will try and post a pic, but I posted one awhile back. Try and find the old thread and check it out. It is under "Better pic if Vert model"
so how about some pics of the finished 91-2 models? ive almost got mine done and will post up when its finished.

I don't ever build the first model kit i buy. I always buy a second one, or a third one so i can do different colors, wheels, ect. I've actually customized two different kits into one to make several different years they haven't yet build models for.
Ya'll should see my f-body collection. Its huge. I really need to get rid of all my 69 Camaro diecasts though. The more i look at them, the more i dislike them.
I will take some pics, have around 20 third gen trans am models, including 2 1:16 83 SEs, 1 1:16 82 T/A and 1 1:16 GTA. All the big ones are unbuilt atm, I'm working my way through the others. BTW Stephen, if you want a set of GTA wheels for your model, just send me a PM as I have a few sets.
I have posted several pics before, so will need some new ones. I am currently building an 1989 Iroc-Z (w/t-tops). It is metallic silver with black interior, looks great so far. My 3rd gen count is only 6 so far, but have lots of other brands from 55-02. I also have a line up displayed of all 4 gens together that looks pretty cool.
Im sure you would all like to be informed that wal-mart is deleting all of theyre models, this includes Paint, glue, etc. They discounted everything and is probably all sold now, i know because i bought basically all they had, bcuz it was so cheap. Anyways, Heres my 91 Firebird Model, I messed it up, so i just made it look all messed up =/
Anybody know where I can get a model of an 87 TA. I want to copy my car exactly & sit it in the back at car shows. I plan to go to the Transam nationals at Dayton, Ohio this year. I went last year but didn't take my TA. This year I plan to spend the weekend & do the cruise.

FleaBay...That's where I got my 87 TA model, and filled the vents to make it a 87 GTA like my 87 GTA.
After 4 months of looking for a GTA model, I gave up and just got a TA and filled the front fender vents.
so i decided to start on my model i got for x-mas...and wow, i am totally disappointed....it isa 35 dollar model and i thought something was suspicious when i realized the hood wouldnt open on the model....come tofind out there isnt any motor to build, no drive train....just the body and the interior....i am so disappointed right now....i want the ones you guys got lol anyone wanna trade? lol
They don't make them anymore, but they are pretty easy to get and cheap on ebay, that's where I bought mine from and I have lots of 85-90 T/As. You may be able to get some from a local hobby store that has some old stock.
ok, not the greatest pic, but in this photo you can see a 92 Bird with correct rims and spoiler and also the 92 Formula with correct rims and spoiler. Also, in the front, the 89 Iroc-Z I just finished.
where did you get the 92 bird model? i havent been able to find one. also, anyone know where i can find replacement parts? i accidentally stepped on the back window and put a crack in it.. pissed me off .
Quoted for truth. Walmart no longer sells model kits. I shoulda bought that 70 Chevelle Heavy Chevy when I had the chance. Damn yous walmart! Damn yous!

I guess they aren't just restocking their shelves. Still a bunch at the WM across the street from me. Like those yellow 2-in-1 91 'birds. There's like 3 of them over there.
hey will the 4th gen wing fit on the 3rd gen? try it for me please before u glue everything together
I did mine, to match my real car. Just like the real world, I had to extend the center 2 posts. If you use an early 4th gen model, you won't have to. Use a later one, extend the posts with modeling putty. Not hard.
wanted to show off my model pics....so far this has come farther than my actual car lol....but unlike my 87 this one doesnt have the following:
-4th gen spoiler
-deluxe door panels
-same dash gauge set up
-t-tops
or
-trans am rims
but heres the pics of it
does anyone know where i can get a diecast model of a 88 trans am. or something close to that year? i already have the little matchbox car, and i also made a model that resembles my car. now i just want to find a diecast model.
Just to let everybody know there is a 1985 plastic model made by Arii on ebay(buy it now option). There is 2 availiable. I just bought my 2 tonight from somebody else on there, I dont wish anything like I had to go throught I lost 3 or 4 in the final seconds in the past week
92's are on ebay all the time. Last week there was a couple and I nabbed one. I am going to make another vert with it. Also, other years on there. Right now there is an 89 TTA, a 89 GTA, and a 82 Z-28 that I know of for sure. Keep looking.
Where did you get the third gen camaro model? I have been trying for months to find one and have had no success. Please let me know, I appreciate your time. Thanks.
OMG where did you find these? I cant locate a 91 or 92 anywhere. Every model i find is either from the 60's, (which i have 2 of) or the new ones. Please, any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!
You don't always have to go to ebay. . .If you know of any good hobby shops in your area they could order the 85' Z or 91' Bird for you if they don't already have it. Or a craft store like Micheal's or Hobby Lobby might have them.
