dark blue or dark blue metallic???

In 1985 was a NON-metallic dark blue paint used unlike every other year from 82-89 ???
I've seen alot of info to say yes. Somebody tell me that GM wasn't just wacky that year and only that year.

Re: dark blue or dark blue metallic???

I don't remember if it was or wasn't metallic(I'm thinking it wasn't), but yes, there was a very dark blue available in the mid-'80s. A friend's Firebird was that color. IIRC, it was an '86, and the color was called Black Sapphire.

"snarf blue" You a...thundercats fan?? I loved that show. thunder...thunder thundercats...ho!
Alright seriously since I've started restoring my '85 this has gotten more perplexing. Maybe someone can clue me in. I know from the build sheet that my car was a 26L dark blue. I've seen color samples of the paint color "26" and it matches well to what the majority of the car is painted.
Why though is there a pastel like blue on the floor pan and other non visible areas? Did chevy change at the factory, or was it likely done after delivery by orig owner?
I've owned the car since '90 so there's not much I don't know about the car and these two issues are getting to me.
Bill if you have pictures of a brother-like car or if anyone else does, please post

Re: dark blue or dark blue metallic???

I do think my car is a code 26 dark blue.Freakiest color though.I got mine as insurance salvage in 1994.I took the interior out as it was wet on the floor...floor pans super clean.............and dark blue under the carpet.I had pics of the floor....but they never came back from the developers. It has been sitting all these years with a primer front clip.It is suffering from neglect right now.I have most parts....If you have the light blue/silver graphics, good luck with the rear bumper cover Z28 emblem.I got mine from a dealership out of state since by the mid nineties, the General had already started to discontinue some third gen pieces!!......BILL

P.S........I think maybe the "pastel" color might be light coverage or just overspray????........maybe???

Re: dark blue or dark blue metallic???

thanks for the pics/knowledge/color charts gents. I feel pretty secure in the fact that dark blue metallic was not a choice, though still wondering why the two tone colors on my car.
Bill, pic has a overtone of blue so tough to make out. If ya get more, great. Is that carpeting on the wheelwell??
