GM built only 109 Trans Ams from 1986-1992 specifically for the racing program.
1988 Trans AM - 1 of 22 - RPO A4U - "Canadian Players Car".
- Factory delivered with 1LE brakes
1987 Trans Am - 1 of 20 - RPO A4U - "Canadian Players car"
Re: What are the odds? Two 1991 TA 1LE with t-tops for sale?
Am I missing something on the ebay car, no 1LE on the SPID and he only states that it has the same engine and dual cats that were used on the 1LE cars but does not state that it is a 1LE car.
Re: What are the odds? Two 1991 TA 1LE with t-tops for sale?
What's "1LE" about his engine? A TPI 305....NOT uncommon or "rare".
To top it off...AFAIK, no Firebirds got the 1LE package, only the Camaros did. Besides that...1LE was a suspension package (basicaly), not an engine package. I don't consider AC Delete (despite the missing compressor) as an engine package.

Yeah I saw that 1LE TA on ebay a few days ago and enjoyed how the guy makes it sound special with out actually commiting fraud. Kinda funny.

That is the story. But there are many cars that came with 1LE and other stuff. The one car shown above (canadian 1LE TA) is indeed a factory T-top 1LE car. I ran the vin myself. Very strange. Might have been a GM exec or promo car.

That ad is from 1987 ... no 1LE's back then ... but the Player's cars did run 12" front rotors and twin piston calipers. :-)
All 89-92 Player's cars were 1LE. In fact, majority of 89 1LE's were Player's cars. Very few non-Player's cars. If I recall 30-something camaros of the 111 were non-player's cars.

Mark.
From what I understand for 1989 there were 37 cars built as 1LE's that were not R7U's...... :-)
Re: What are the odds? Two 1991 TA 1LE with t-tops for sale?
From my understanding the Players series could have used cars from a previous year... Mark would know better...
Also notice that on the bottom of hte front facia it appears that there is a large air inlet that was not on the 85-90 Trans AM's...
As for the car in question... IIRC it turns out that aLL LB9 & L98 engines were the same, from 1990 - 1992. they ALL had the same CAM, there is no alternative part number for ANY of the parts in a 1LE engine...
The difference is actually in the rear axel gearing... The GTA & Formula should have gotten the performance gear every time with the M5 & LB9, and L98... The trans Am however it was an option (R6P or soemthing like that) got you the performance gear...

Re: What are the odds? Two 1991 TA 1LE with t-tops for sale?
does it look like in that Ad with the White T/A that there's a green camaro racing in the right mid corner of the pic? hehe just curious..
man i'm really getting into this Player cars now...wish my GTA was a player's car...but unfortunately it has none of those RPO codes...oh well i still love my car and it handles like a race car!
