Axle/Gears: No idea

5.0L V8 MPI?

I ran a history report on my car and it said that i have a 5.0L V8 MPI. the car is a 1985 Z28. What do ya guys know about the engine?

The TPI is a MPI or MPFI by definition. But not all MPI or MPFI cars are TPI cars. MPI stands for "Multi-Point-Injection" or Multi Port Injection,, it would depend on who you talk to. MPFI means Multi Point Fuel Injection. And TPI stands for "Tuned Port Injection"

So to answer your question... Yes, and I see you have an LB9 which was the 305 TPI...

Which is the better motor? I just ran into the same thing. 86 Iroc, says its a TPI but vin says MPI

Better motor between 85 and 86? The 85 by a bit. Between MPFI and TPI... they are the same.

TPI is MPFI... It is a matter of designations. TPI means Tuned Port (Fuel) Injection. MFI means Multi Point (or Port) (Fuel) Injection.

In the end, MPFI is not necessarily TPI, but TPI in this case is MPFI.
