I just picked up this car today. Only 43,xxx miles on it and an immaculate interior. The car was hit on the passenger side and the door hinges bent in but no severe damage. My father in law has a frame rack so it will be fairly easy. It even came with a good door, fender and gfx pieces to fix it.
The most interesting thing about this car is the lack of options. The only option it has is the z28 and crossfire. NO a/c, pl, pw, the only other thing it has is an am/fm radio. How uncommon is this combo?
If for any reason you decide to part that out please keep me in mind. I can use alot of that blue plastic. As far as rare, read the sticky at the top of this message board. I hope you can get that fixed. There's not alot of 82's running around.
That is a very nice find and as Kevin84 pointed out there aren't many '82 Z28s running around - at least original/non-modified ones. It is unusual to see a CFI car that isn't loaded with options.

Thanks for all the replies. I was just curious if anyone has seen a Z with no options like this before. I did read the post @ the top, but it is just an odd thing in my mind that the only option is the crossfire.
I was surprised at the condition of the car when I saw it for the first time. Iis also lucky for me that the only real structural damage is the hinges, so it should be a fairly easy fix.
On another note does anyone know if there is a replacement for the dual muffler exhaust. One of them is rotted and I would like to retain that style.

There were plenty of low options cars made and bought by people on a budget but the majority of them were daily driven until they were crashed/worn out and junked by the late 80's/early 90's. Nowadays most of the surviving cars are more expensive optioned out cars that were likely driven less when they were current models. This makes the low option cars seem unusual 25 years later.
I remember seeing the last of the bulk of low option daily driver early 3rd-gens hitting the yards back in the late 90s. It wasn't too hard to find a car with heater only and no power options then.
I have a low option '84 Trans Am parts car that was obviously bought by somebody on a tight budget. The car has the standard LG4/T5 drivetrain, heater only, and no power windows/locks/mirrors. The only reason the car still exists today is that when it was deemed too worn out to drive in the early 90's it was parked under a tree on the property to further rot away rather than sending it to the local salvage yard for processing into a brand new Toyota.
BTW, my '82 Trans Am came from Racine. Ever see a red CFI car with silver 2nd-gen snowflake aluminum rims driving around? That would have been it.
I am so jealous of that interior! Check in the drivers seat bottom for a build sheet- if it has a big "C" on the lower-right, it was a special-order car.

Nice Find Where has it been hiding all these years
For your muffler question, Dynomax 17739 is listed as a direct replacement, and Hooker 21501HKR, 21303HKR and 21720HKR may fit the bill. Check your dimensions before ordering one. I am also sure Flowmax and others may have replacement muffler. A direct replacement may fit better, with less mounting hassles, than a universal replacement.
Nice car to save. It is very unusual to see a cfi car without other options, in general. The seats are also optional, as they are the base configuration, but with the cloth center upgrade. I had a new 82 Z that had the same seat upgrade, but in maroon cloth. Base seat was an all-vinyl affair like those, just minus the cloth. What about the G80 posi, or 4 wheel disc brakes, radio choice, etc.? Thanks, Rudy.

Alright, let's resurrect a dead thread!
Dennis -- long time! Hopefully you're still on here.
At any rate, maybe it's just being in a different part of the country, but it seems like there's been a lot of no-option third gen's popping up around here lately, and eBay as well. I think the no-option cars have survived, and all of the really nice, loaded cars are all gone now.
One way to think about it is that when lots of options no longer work, people are more likely to toss the car. A car that needs two window motors, a/c work, power lock work, missing hard-to-find exterior and interior trim, leaky t-tops, etc. might appeal a lot less to your average idiot that didn't think these cars even came with these options from the factory, hence they're more likely to settle for a car with no options that everything works on (since there's nothing to go wrong).
Sorry guys but I am just finishing parting this car out. I found a lot of hidden frame damage and previous damage from a different accident and deemed it worth more in parts. If anyone needs anything let me know.

Alright guys, there's a classifieds section for a reason. If you're buying or selling parts, or asking about buying/selling, then keep it in private messages or the classifieds.
These cars are worthless in parts. A few big items sell ok, and a few little items sell, but the bulk just goes to waste. Kind of like killing an animal for it's hide and letting the rest rot.
I worked with a guy that special ordered an '86 IROC; A/C delete, crank windows, manual mirrors and not much else. He installed every SLP part that was available back in 1990 on the 305. When he purchased SLP heads, he found out they wouldn't fit on the 305 block. So he dropped in a 350 short block. Was a good running car.
I saw it a few years ago and an old lady was driving it. It was trashed.
you would be silly to part out that car, i wish i was handy to buy it from you, no trouble to fix that damage!! would you send her to canada lol so i can fix it.
