82-84 vs. 85-92 camaro Hood insulation...

Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between these two different eras? I know that the 82-84 had the crossfire option which required a hole in the middle, but I am finding the regular ones too. Will the regular hood insulation for the 82-84 camaro work on my 92 z28 hood? If not, why?

Re: 82-84 vs. 85-92 camaro Hood insulation...

While not knowing this for facts, I am thinking that the hood substructure is different. The 85-92 hoods were all the same substructure designed around the Z28/IROC-Z louver insert. The 91 and 92 continued to use this hood, but with hood blisters instead of louvers. The 82-84 mounting points for the hood insulation may not line up on an 85-92 hood substructure.
