I got to do a photoshoot with my JY TA yesterday so here are some results.
I just put the gold wheels on, and I think that was definitely the right decision.
I have not done anything to the paint as far as restoration goes. I waxed it on Friday just for protection until I get to doing the full claybar/paint cleaner/wax multiple step system that I do on all my cars.
So this is 146,770 miles and almost 17 years of Southern California weather, a new set of wheels and a coat of Mequiars NXT.
Enjoy...

Looking good. Nice pickup, are we going to be seeing it at Thirdgen Fest this year?

Kevin, the car should be at TGF as long as I don't get into the heater core project before then. I got some mechanical things to fix and a major cleaning to do, and if I can put the heater core replacement off until after TGF then it will be there.
Brennan, I know. My other cars never had a front plate and I've decided that this one should not have one either so I'm gonna fill the holes and do some touch up painting.
Very nice for a high mileage vehicle! The color is very awe striking because u just don't see many of them in that color...let alone a 3rd gen. Keep up the good work!
The wheels are ok. I read the other threads about the quality of the CI OER wheels, and everything was true about them. The lip is machine very coarse and not polished enough, as a result it is not as shiny and smooth as the OEM wheels are. You can actually feel the cut in the lip it is that coarse. The clearcoat splotchiness?? is barely noticeable unless you look really really close, the paint in the centers is ok, not perfect but I doubt the OEMs were perfect either. At first I was dissappointed about the lack of shine from the lips but once they went on the car, that all changed. As you can see it looks pretty damn good, and it looks that good in person too.
My opinion is that in today's world where you see so few of these wheels in good shape, you won't be able to tell they are not original unless you are an anal expert or the car is sitting next to a car with almost new OEM wheels. Basically if you don't have an OEM wheel to compare it to, then you won't notice the difference.
And Gold is definitely the wheel color for a JY car, holy crap this car looks amazing. Also the tires I decided on are General Exclaim UHP, excellent looking tire. Nice sidewall and good tread pattern, plus only $90 each!
