just wondering, im in the uk i have an iroc, is there any way from the chassey number or something to find out any history for it from when it was in the states, as ive got nothing before it was imported, my camaro before had loads of paperwork with itand the name of the guy who owned it, just a thought?
I got lucky on one of my cars as I had the previous (including the original) owners Registration and insurance slips. Beyond that there is nothing specific you can go into.
You might try www.carfax.com or www.autocheck.com as they will be able to tell you some information about mileage readings, title transfers, emissions testing (not applicable in all US areas) and collisions (if they were reported)... The information there is reasonably good, and it can give you a good idea about where the car was and for how long.
Good luck
John

ideal cheers for that, i noticed tonight that on the windscreen there is a sticker that has a number and sais proof of ownership florida, so must have been from there
Keep in mind that cars often go from state to state and many times keep decals and other identifiers from previous ownership... I owned a 1987 Formula 350 that had Missouri Emissions testing decal on the windshield that I nor the previous owner never removed... I have never been to Missouri...
Granted it is a huge start, you can probably say that at one time the car was in FL...
just had a look the free bit said 1 item to show but have to pay, im not sure how that would work with me being in the uk, surely the 1 thing is the fact its been imported here
Not that I am aware of, all of them are pay sites...
There are some universal "investigation" sites that end up being a scam, you sign up only to find out there is actually no VIN search... Personally I would stay with the CARFAX and Autocheck... until I hear otherwise...

Wasn't there a post not long ago that had a link to some GM office that would send a package of restoration info if you just forward the VIN to them...no charge?
I got my info a few weeks after I e-mailed the request, but it really wasn't too specific.
