88' GTA ?

I purchased this '88 GTA a couple of weeks ago with a bad tranny. The rpo codes gone also ( Dangit). My cousin and I had the car on the lift changing the tranny today and I noticed the car has a Aluminum Driveshaft & the tag on the differential cover says 3.27 for the axle ratio and the other tag has anti spin differential. What axle code is the 3.27 if I would have had the rpo numbers? The car did not have the dual cats though. So is this a nicely optioned gta or just a run of the mill gta? I'm not asking or saying I have something rare, just asking if this is good for this car. Thanks for any and all help!

GW6 is the RPO code for the 3.27. According to Frankie's website, 6,912 1988 GTAs of 9,765 came equipped with the 3.27.

JG1 is the RPO code for the alumium driveshaft, and according to Frankie's website, 6,913 1988 GTAs of 9,765 came equipped with that option.

The GTAs, in general, were well equipped. The exception to this is some 1987 GTAs.

Re: 88' GTA ?

Sounds like a pretty standard equipped '88 GTA to me. There are really no run-of-the-mill-equipped GTAs after 1987. Most options were standard fare.

The N10 dual cat exhaust didn't come online until 1989.

Re: 88' GTA ?

Frankie,
If all GTA's were basically equally equipped after 1987 would that not make 1988+ cars "Run of the mill" by definition? Not "Run of the mill" when you compare them to all other models, but when you compare a GTA to another GTA...

Re: 88' GTA ?

Well, John.... if one wants to get "anal" about it, I suppose the answer would be yes.
