Block ID assistance

Hello All,

I just picked up a new block for my 89 Camaro. I have tried the usual places ( MORTEC, etc..) for trying to ID what this engine came from.

The casting number on the Left rear of the block is as follows:

GM 5.7 LG
SG1

The Id number on the pad located on the right front is as follows:

V0420CUA
2JL245694

I know its a 350, and if my memory doesn't fail me the LG means the block is later than '87

The rest has me stumped. If anyone has any resources I can tap into it would be much appreciated.

Re: Block ID assistance

Those numbers won't help you on a site like Mortec. There should be another casting number on the back of the block on the passenger side. That's the number you need to check on a site such as Mortec.
