Well, without much information on the car and only a couple pictures I would say somewhere between $2500 and $3500. With more pictures and information on it I could give you a better estimate.

Well the car is for sale and I am interested in buying it. So I was looking more for a ballpark price. What other information would you like to know?

FYI it is a 1owner car and they are asking $4k

Well, you said it is in "good" condition. The car looks really good in the pictures but I've seen plenty of cars that look great in pictures but FAR worse in person. What kind of problems does it have? What condition is the body and interior in?

I have not seen it in person, and I agree with what youre saying. I was looking for a good estimate assuming... Here are some more photos of it. Lets just say it's in "good" condition with a few minor problems. If I find something out about the car, I can adjust my offer as I see...

From the pictures I would say $3200 to $3500. A few years ago I would say it was worth the $4000 he was asking but not right now. The ecomomy has definitely brought the prices down a little. I've seen some nice 70k to 80k mile cars selling for $4000 to $4500.

Thank you. Im selling my 1996 WS6 this weekend, and if they will come down on their asking price, I just might be back in a thirdgen!

Good color!

The taillights are toast, keep in mind that is $600 alone to replace!

The rest looks good but it's obvious the owner didn't give a crap about taking care of it mechanically looking under the hood.

If the front gfx are good and it passes smog and inspection, I'd give a solid $3,500.

Where are the t-top shades and is the storage bag still in the rear? Rear cargo cover intact?

Should have rear discs and dual cats too. For sure the previous owner left it parked outside in the sun all the years they owned it judging by the taillights peeling apart alone.

Re: How much is this car worth? ('91 T/A)

Well I went down and bought the car today. Got it for $3400. There are a few small cosmetic issues but nothing too major. It seemed to be mechanically sound after a 30 min test drive. Once I got on the interstate on my way home it started running very poorly. Once the car has been warm for a while, give it any gas and it will fall off of it's face.

Fair price but then OUCH!

You should pay $100 for a dealer to do a pre-purchase inspection on it (PPI) and then go back to the dealership with that's wrong. In CA we have "lemon" laws to prevent people from getting screwed right after buying a car. Something like 30days I think.

Good luck!

I think we have the same laws in Missouri, but Im just gonna mess with it for a couple days and see if maybe it's something fairly cheap or simple to fix.

The problem with that is even if you do find a cheap fix it might be temporary and there might be much larger issues going on that only a PPI could tell you.

Trust me, it's the best $100 you will EVER spend on a car you just got. They will do a compression test, leakdown, and like a 200point inspection of everything else on the car.

Atleast then you will have a much bigger idea of what the car is going to need and when. Then if you feel it's too much wrong, then you make the dealership take it back.

Don't get caught up in the excitement of having the car and not cover your a$$ lol.

Yup, any dealership or large mechanic shop knows exactly what a PPI is. Just be honest with them too about when you bought the car and what your concerns are even though you already bought it.

I bought it from a small used car lot. Is there any way I can just give the car back and get a refund? I don't want it or the headache it comes with

I think your fuel pump is on its way out. That's how my car was to. Does it hesitate when you give it gas? cost me $900 to get that fixed.

It does look like that car is in great shape. I think it would be worth it to fix. I would love to see it cleaned up, lowered and the windows tinted. those tail lamps don't look too bad, I think a good buffing and they would be good as new.

If it sits for a couple days then it will run fine for about 45 min. Then it will fall on it's face if I give it any gas. But I have receipts proving that the fuel pump, filter, ecm, distributor, plugs, and wires have all been replaced. I just want to take the car back. I don't want a thirdgen as a daily driver.

I will trade you a 92 Cadillac deville for it. Would make a great daily driver. runs great, 100,000 miles exactly on it, and it was just tuned up.

I have a 91 Trans Am that I bought after it had been sitting under a tree by a pond for 2 years. I pulled a 5 gallon bucket full of leaves and pine needles out of the engine bay and under the spoiler. I fixed it's problems and its my DD and it rocks. It hasn't left me yet. Stuff happens man, you gotta deal with it. Hard work pays off. I'd say the car is well worth any repair it needs. I wish you were closer, I'd put my scanner on it and diagnose if for you. Odds are its the fuel pump or the coolant temp sensor, both easy to diagnose problems. all my before pics are blurry but here is the best before and after shots I have..

Depending on your state, you can't just take the car back to where you bought it from. They have the right to fix it, and hand it back to you. In some states, they don't even have to fix it...I know VT and NY are "as is, as shown" states where no warranty need apply. In MA, if I sold you that car, I have to warranty the internal powertrain for 30 days, and guarantee it passes for a sticker...that's it.

Every state varies, but I sincerely DOUBT you're gonna be able to just hand the keys back and make it their problem!! Don't let a small problem sour you on what could be a decent car!

Cool. I know I am just frusterated about having it **** on me as soon as I bought it. It's just going to take some time for me to get used to it. It's a lot different. I've been daily driving this 12 second car for 2 years.

Now Im thinking it may be the cat converter as it is doing it all the time now. Cant give it any gas or it will just bog down... and the exhaust stinks or so my girlfriend says. I finally limped it home and it actually threw a SES light for a few minutes, so I'm going to see if I can get anywhere with that.

Why'd you sell the '96? Got bored with it? I've had my '97 for 8 years, and while I've thought about selling it many times, I can't imagine someone else backing out of my driveway and taking off with it.

I've discovered bliss is having a third AND a fourth...although I still want to add a second third to the garage

There are a few different reasons but the major one is a little extra cash so I can buy a house. I really hated to sell it but you gotta do what ya gotta do. I didn't have a choice and it broke my heart when I watched the guy drive it away. I spent $20k on that car and sold it for $6700.

You know, this looks like a pretty nice car. Hell, even the headliner looks good. Trust me, I know how frustrating it can be to have to start dumping money into a car in order to fix it, but you're in now, so the sooner you fix it, the happier you'll be.

I think a big part of it is just the crap I've been getting from my friends. Saying it's old and ugly and whatnot. I'm thinking about fixing it, "cleaning it up" real good and re-selling it. Or maybe, if I keep it, it's going to get an LT1/T56 combo, a black interior swap, and a good set of aftermarket wheels. Normal people just don't really see the potential in the 120k mile, bone stock car.

Just my opinion, but if you want to do all that work to a car, get another TA and do that. the one you have is one of 3500 91 Trans Ams, plus its a hard to find 5speed car and it seems to be unmolested. I'd leave it alone, frankly it will be worth WAY more in virgin condition than if you cut it up and do tons of swapping.

True and I agree. That's why I was just thinking about selling the car. Do you know where I can find a production breakdown on 5spd/Auto and color, etc ?

Re: How much is this car worth? ('91 T/A)

Man, I'd love to have a car just like that... 91 and 92 TA's that are blue have to be pretty rare... I've only ever seen ONE in person, and it was on a used car lot in Florida about 8 or 9 years ago. Most of the 91-92 TAs around here are Red, white, or dark green.

I would fix whatever is wrong with it, fix the paint, then enjoy the heck out of it. If you want to mod a car, get a base firebird with a 5 speed, and then drop in your LT1/T56 combo in that.

your previous blue V6 Bird would have been a perfect candidate for the LT1/T56 swap. The T/A you have now should just be enjoyed.

Well I'm probably just going to fix it up a bit and then re-sell the car.

Judging by the pictures.. And the LB9/5 speed combo... I'd pay $4000 if I was looking for a car like that.. I just did a '91 Firebird and it's a PITA to find parts locally.. Especially Ground FX....

Re: How much is this car worth? ('91 T/A)

I just ordered the red "PONTIAC" letters that go across the rear tail lights. And I figured out that I have a bad injector or three that was causing my problem. So I am about to go finish up replacing them after I type this.

It has the factory CD player in it right now, which will not play cd's and the volume knob doesn't work. So I am wondering if I should leave the factory one in there or replace it with a spare 4th gen Monsoon unit I have laying around?

Overall pretty much everything on it works. One of the foglights does not come on, probably just a bulb. And for some reason the cruise control doesn't work but I haven't done any searching on that yet.

It looks to me that the t-tops have been replaced. They are glass. (Not sure if factory was glass or plastic?) They also have a slight mirror tint on them, and the glass looks brand new. I can tell they have been replaced by looking at where the glass meets the plastic part that fastens to the car.

The metal trim around the rear windshield is rusty so Im going to prep that and repaint it black. Also the passenger side of the rear spoiler has separated at the seam so I am going to find a way to glue it back together. It's missing the factory floormats so I may find an original set or a good set that match and look like they may have came from the factory.

The drivers side door lock switch has been pushed inside the door panel, so I need to pull it back into it's place. Also a lot of the pwr switches have the white letters rubbed off of them so I think I may replace those.

Did I mention the factory t-top bag and door cupholders are still in place?
