RPO Code decal under console lid

Is there any way to preserve & transfer the RPO decal from under the console lid when you replace the lid? I've got some high resolution photos of the decal but I'd really like to be able to transfer it to the new lid without destroying it.

Try applying heat from a hair dryer or heat gun set on low to get the adhesive losened up and pull it off carefully then reapply it to the new lid .

That was my first thought but I really don't want to mess it up. Hoping someone else had experimented with a method that worked. *lol* Thnx.

Re: RPO Code decal under console lid

i took one off of an '86. It was dried out and brittle, but the plastic adhesion peeled off and still looked intact. Came off with ease. I would just start peeling off the corners SLOWLY Switch corners as you go. Use a blow dryer if its stuburn. Then i would have it laminated.

Scan it high resolution, like 1200 dpi. Clean it up with Photoshop and have a place like Kinkos print it to the right size on crack and peel. Then save the original lid.

Re: RPO Code decal under console lid

Problem solved. If you take out all 5 screws, 3 in the hinge and two in the latch the entire cap comes off the frame. I reused the original frame part and put the new lid on. Duh!!! I don't think it could have been simpler. Now if I can only figure out the ashtray spring!
