Front/Rear Wheel Help needed

So, today I needed to take off my rear wheel on my 89 GTA. To get a new tire put on. Well, when I looked at the back of the rim, it said Front Only. Why was it on the back of my car? I didn't think the front wheels would fit on the back. Can someone clear this up for me? I have a posi disc rear. Thanks in advance!

On GTA's the front wheels look wider than the rears because they are a different offset. if the front wheels you have look skinnier than the rears they are mismatched.

So, the wheels will actually fit both on the front and on the rear? I thought the front would only fit on the front and rear wheels on the rear...Sweet looking car in your sig, hope mine turns out that nice!

Re: Front/Rear Wheel Help needed

Fronts fit the rear great, but the rears don't fit the front.

Well, the rears will bolt up & the car will roll, but only forward & backwards. Try to turn & you'll hear the grinding of the inner wheel lip on the lower a-arm pretty badly.

You r fine the way you are. Fronts on the rear are a very common thing. I've run 4 fronts before, as well as hundreds of others.

OH, awesome! Do people run four fronts so they all look the same and match better? Thanks for the quick help too!

Re: Front/Rear Wheel Help needed

Exactly. It gives the rear end a "tougher" wider look/stance.

Plus you get the benefit of any of your wheels will fit any position. No mixing up the wheels, like the paint shop did when my wifes crosslaces were painted.

Halfway out of the parking lot....SCRAAAAAPE.... "OK...Get a damn floor jack, take it out to my car..No, I'm not driving it back so you can use your precious air impact....GO CHANGE HER WHEELS!"

Re: Front/Rear Wheel Help needed

I plan on getting two more fronts to go in the back too.
