hey guys! tell me what you think. ps, i dont want anyone bashing the guys in the nissans as they are all my friends. im not too new to the boards or anythin but havent been postin for a while cuz i been busy workin on my car. heres what i got soo far.
That is the coolest thing ever a steel frame chevy sliding around like that.
That is so sweet i really want to get my car to be able to drift... i dont mean like that but just better at drifting for a DD haha im about to redo my suspension... Got any tips for a newbie to the whole drift scene?
yes sir! i got alota tips. luckily for us theres a ton of aftermarket parts to choose from! my drift setup is my road race/autox setup so whatever fits your driving style will work for you too! the only differance between my car and you guys's is my transmission, steering box, control arms, and rear end, the motor is a 355 smallblock with a drag cam in it good for maby 400 crank hp. Honestly right now im looking for more power, my engine setup is super basic, solid cam roller rocker, and patriot heads (america woot) and a craigslist edelbrock torquer intake i got for 25 bucks!

Also for tips for a newbie to the drift scene, you gotta make sure you get your practice in a safe manner, although it can be learned quick, practicing it can be real dangerous, sense more and more tracks are recognizing it we can go out and practice more while keeping the neighorhoods safe! Start out with whatever you have, thats what your used to, and let you be the judge of when its time to move on and what parts you need. but also be open to advice that people who drive a similar car suggest setup wise, they have probably learned some lessons and can give you some useful knowelge!
Have an 88 Rs with suspension that i have to redo anyway just wondering if you have any tips on what kind i should use...
Yea keeping neighborhoods safe is really important i go way out of town on private property but tons of people race through my neighborhood cops sit on the street now haha
i use stockcar products springs. the nascar style ones that you order what size the spring is (height and diamater and spring rate) as for shocks i have adjustable koni's and adjustable panhard bar so that the rear is striaght when lowered. as far as steering goes i had to do some fabrication to get it to steer as much as it does. totally worth it though. but no need to rush anyone, as you can still learn a ton without the extra angle.
Any links or places you recommend to buy
Prices or anything like that?
All info would help...
Also Just curious how exactly did you custom fab it?
All in all everything im hearing just tells me that that build is just way too impressive haha
Ebay my friend! i got my transmission from ebay...transmission from ebay...we managed to find some tires on ebay on a few occasions! even nascar teams are selling things on ebay! which reminds me. some of these guys i actually need to leave some REALLY good feedback!

Also to custom fab the steering i had to make room for the brakes (when you turn past lock the brake calipers (1le) rub on the control arms when the suspension travels. the Turn 1 steering box that i had custom built for me has 45 degrees steering angle which is plenty. i also had to do a couple other crazy things with control arms to get that 45 degres of angle that my car has.. and also regaruding steering angle. a stock camaro has arond 28-29 degrees steering angle. if you drill out the rivits on the back of the control arm on the steering stop you can get about 36 out of it which is one heck of a differance!! there are many ways to get more steering, espeically if we could find someone who could make us custom pitman arms that were longer, and if we could find someone who could make us custom tubular control arms that were both narrower lighter, and gives car a wider stance and more camber. I mean i did all that once on my car. but it would be alot easier with better technology. althought mine do the job just fine. its just hard to replicate.

How is that done?
Is it pretty easy?
The way you made it sound it seems like a pretty easy upgrade that big of a differance.
yeah it seems to be. the only thing is take in consideration where the brake line is at full lock, in some cars you need to relocate the 10mm bolt that holds the line to the k member over. either that or get longer stainless braided lines. i have a pic of it somewhere if anyones curious, i think.

Id like to see that picture haha
Probably about to go out and do that when i do my suspension.
