Im looking at a 89 trans am non gta and no t-tops if that helps. I was wondering if they made the 5.0 with a WS6 package and if so how could i tell because i dont see any badges that say WS6 etc. Thanks
IIRC they did make WS6 with a 5.0 and to check to see if this is one of em, go in the center console and you should see a piece of paper glued in, this is your RPO codes, if you see "WS6" anywhere on it, then this car is a WS6 car.. also LB9 should be the engine code for the 305 (Im assuming you have tpi since the majority do)

Doesn't matter if it has a 5.0 or 5.7. The only sure way is to check the RPO codes, for WS6. The parts themselves are easily swapped on, but it should have 36/24mm sway bars and 16" wheels. May or may not have rear discs.
Hey thanks ill have to look asap. yes it does have the 16" polished wheels with the 245/50/16. There almost like the formula wheel not the gta honeycomb ones.
The wheels make since, all t/a start as a formula. You dont have a GTA and the wheels arent GTA wheels. Proably is WS6, also could have dash plaque, performance suspension.

That's exactly what my T/A is.
The only badging that indicates it's a WS6 car is a badge on the passenger side dash that says "Performance Suspension".
Also listed in your RPO codes as ""WS6 - Performance Package, Special".
For what it's worth, GTA wheels are more correctly called diamond spoke aluminum wheels.. (RPO Code PW7). These wheels did come on the GTA in gold, but they weren't exclusive to the GTA.. The PW7 wheels were also available as optional wheels on the 1989 Trans Am. They came in a variety of colors.
If you click on the link below, you'll see a black TA with black PW7 wheels.
As mentioned, if the vehicle is a WS6, the RPO code will show up somewhere on the Service Parts ID sticker. It should be located in the hatch between the seats... Below is a picture of my somewhat wrinkled SPID sticker
2) The badge on the pasenger side would not distinguish between a FE1?? and WS6 Trans Am. AFAIK all trans Am's from 1985+ have the badge regardless of Suspension since technically the FE1 was a performance suspension.
3) The Formula and GTA all got WS6 from 1987 - 1992. The Trans Am it was an option. WS6 was Manditory with the L98, and the LB9/M5 AFAIK all years, but not entirely sure about the LB9/M5.
4) From 1984 - 1991 the SPID sheet is in the center console, Jim called it the "Center Hatch" which was confusing to me until I read it several times. Starting in 1991 (around Aug 1990 the decal was relocated to the rear compartment area, unless you had a Convertible, where it should be located in the center console...

LOL.. I dunno why I called it a hatch in that post.. I've always referred to it as a console
