As I was driving by the local KIA dealership today, the most horrific sight was before me! A thirdgen in the scrap dumpster in front of the KIA dealership! Someone actually traded it in for the $4500 clunker rebate on a new kia.... What a GREAT (sarcastic) idea for advertisement!
Anyway, here are the pics I took with my phone....
what is wrong with this ? EVERYTHING is wrong , $4,500.00 for a trade-in on a KIA . don't give me the made in AMERICA crap . assembled in america maybe , so many of the car companies say made in america . assembled in america o.k. , but made in america not . G.M. , FORD , & MOPAR all have low end economy models made overseas . where does the money go , it goes to the overseas companies . true some stays in our country but most profit goes overseas . how does this really help our economy ? WAKE UP AMERICA , buy american . before you buy a new car find out where it's really made . just my , i will always buy american if i have a choice . i said " if i have a choice " .
I agree completely! But the goverment is giving $3500 to $4500 on the clunker trade in rebates. I simply cannot believe that someone would trade in that camaro on a ... puke.... KIA!
As far as buying American made econobox cars, are there any made here?
But back to the pictures. From what I understand, Once a car is taken in for the gas guzzler clunker rebate, there is NO chance of it ever being registered again. It will be scrapped.
People are trading in perfectly good cars! Possibly high emissions, but not "clunkers".
My 22 yr old GTA gets the same 18mpg combined rating, that my moms 4 yr old, 05 Trailblazer does! Progress my ***.
Lets look at the resources wasted on building a new car, vs the resources that were wasted 22 yrs ago. Cheaper to maintain a car, than build a whole new one.
I can't wait to see how many repos there are, because people jumped on the "new car thing" without thinking about the payments & higher insurance rates they'll be paying.
That being said, I know most of the local lots here got a cheap beater from the junkyard to put in the dumpster like that. Maybe that thing was already scrap. We can only hope.
Wow.............I got suckered at first too!!!....I bought in at first because our local Ford dealer has a dumpster with a fairly nice Dakota w/topper tossed into it!!..........BILL
What? Not photoshopped at all.... I took the pics this afternoon. It is at the Kia dealership in Cartersville GA on Tennesee Street out of the front and back glass of my truck. I can try to get some better pics tomorrow if any one would like to see it up close.
maybe its the fact that its from a phone, but it really does look chopped. Look around the wheels, it doesn't seem perfectly round, and the reflection of the sky in the windows being parallel to the roof line and not actually parallel to the sky. Maybe a video???
Mods so far: MSD Cap and rotor, MSD ignition coil, Accel 8.8mm ignition wires, Hooker Super Comp Shortie Headers, Flowmaster 3in catback, underdrive crank pulley, custom cold air intake, NOS wet 125 shot, air foil and a lead foot! no E/T's yet. ...TURBO COMING SOON...Other mods include keyless entry and remote start, and Sequential Turn Signals.
I rode back over there just for you guys.... looks like they bashed it up pretty good putting in there. I looked over in the dumpster, the trans is still there, but the driveshaft bent enough to pull out.
couple more... I see louvers and flowmaster catback. It is a RS but I couldn't tell if it was a V8 or not... This is not what I had imagined when I first heard about Cash 4 Clunkers......
you want to screw em up? call the city building inspector on them, for one that is an obvious safety hazard, also, is that a posi diff by chance? :P and look at the undercarriage, it actually doesnt look rusty at all! screw the just the ratchets, ill borrow my service truck from work cover the badges up and well all go make a party out of it! we're talkin fully equiped service truck with tools, air compressor, torches, you name it, my truck's got it! btw... bring yer own ski mask, i dont have those...
holy cow! is there a way you can get me a phone number to that dealership? Maybe an address? or name? I'd seriously like to call them up and let them know I'm going to crawl up there an get those louvers! I live about 2hrs away and would not mind making the trip up there next week or so! I got a good friend that lives in Atlanta and I'm sure we can get the louvers off in about 15mins if we take a break so we might end up just getting the ski masks!

Once again, mileage has absolutely no bearing AT ALL on emissions. Get it through your head. Comparing a 5000lb vehicle to your 3500lb. vehicle is ridiculous and you look silly, again.
Also feel free to show me how this program is going to be responsible for more repo's because you keep on spouting it off and I fail to see the correlation. Dont talk out of your ***, I want facts.
Lets not forget that that camaro would have never received a $4500 trade in value... It's a great deal for the person that C4C’d it.

Amen. I thought Obama was all about helping the "poor" people....well what happens when the cheap clunkers aren't there for the "poor" people to buy? What about the "poor" person that needs a few parts from a junkyard and they're no longer there?
...and yes....nice way to repeat history...consumers racking up too much debt helped get us into the economic position we're in...so what does our government do? We tempt people to take on more debt. Smart idea!
I'm sure China can't wait to buy more of our scrap metal too.

I think the main flaw of the CFC's program is that people who drive the clunkers are driving clunkers because they CAN'T AFFORD ANYTHING ELSE! The people who can afford nice cars are already doing so and not stuck with "clunkers" in the first place.... For most lower class people, its not really a choice of what price range they want their cars from, they simply cannot afford to make car payments in the first place $4,500 or not. I've heard stories about people casual trading in "clunker" 02 Dakota's for a new car, Volvo's, late Chevy, etc...the program is simply a$$-backwards. As far as mileage, my LB9 gets 26mpg on the highway and probably 19-20 on the town when I feather the throttle. Because of TPI's awesome lowend powerband, I NEVER have to go past 2,000 rpms if I don't want to. At 1krpms, I'm doing 40mph, at 1,500rpms, I'm doing 60mph. Most speed limits around town here are 45mph...

*sigh* looks like so many good parts are now gone... i hate kia with a passion, my aunt just bought one (only because its what they could afford, she was smart and didnt over extend herself) but that car is the biggest pile of crap ever. i didnt think someone would ever buy a s***box like that.
I wouldnt go worrying about the economy... its already screwed over id say we are at about 1927ish in comparison of economic standings.

I would have to say that it is a very sad form of advertisement. I couldn't tell if the car was already junked and the dealership bought it just to advertise the C4C. The "salesman" said that it was in fact a trade in. The nose of the car is bashed but it could be from the fact that it was dropped into a dumpster....... You can see the marks on the quarter panels where the straps were to pick it up.
As I understand the C4C program, the car can't be worth more than the $3500 to $4500 rebate. To get the $4500, there has to be a 5 mpg difference form the trade in to the new car.....
my buddys got a set of louvers that he wants 50 bucks for with no mounting brackets and with the built in taillight if anyones interested. local pick would be needed idk if they come apart.
I am ****ing sickened by this ****. These Kia *******s have a lot of nerve dropping an awesome functioning american car into a dumpster to advertise buying a Korean POS to americans while unwilling american tax payers (who could very well have lost their job with this recession) are forced to subsidize the purchase. When will we just snap and not take this crap any more???

Get someone with a rollback to go over there when no one is around and back up to the dumpster and winch that car out and leave . Do be sure to cover anything that would tip people off to who did it and be quick .
