84 trans am recaro areo found ?s

hey guys, im a long time 3rd gen man and i have owned many many firebirds. anyway i dont own one as of now but i was at a yard and i found a origional 84 trans am with recaro seats and aero-tech wheels. anyway i knwo that these parts are rare and what not and i came on here trying to find out what they would be worth. the wheels are 15inch ofcourse with the areo ingraved in the lip. no caps. i can get the set of wheels for 100 bcks. the seats are recaros but are pretty well worn and torn down. i think the seat rails are rotted as there was no t-tps on the car and it obviosly sat outside for atleast 5 years. just wanted to get a oppinion on what these are worht and if there was a place that i can find the caps for the wheels. im thinking of doing a knight rider and i already have pmd seats. but the wheels ar every close

Re: 84 trans am recaro areo found ?s

Is this the type of car you found?
It is a 1983 DT500.

The 1984 Recaro with the Aero package were black with lower gold pin stripes.

If you go back could you PM me the VIN and take a picture of the cowl plate?

I won three "new" DT500 rims and four very nice used caps for $243.00 on eBay in March 2009.........It's the white caps that could be worth some thing...

An 84 Recaro T/A would not have Aero-techs, they would be equiped with the concave hi-tech turbos, so it may be an 83 as mentioned above.

yes that is the car. it must of been a 83 then they just wrote 84 on it. there are no caps at all in the car but like i said it has the 4 rims and the seats. are there any more specific parts for this car that could be worth salvaging?

The cowl induction piece and actuator were only on these early t/as and may be worth something to someone, theres also a good chance that if it's an l69 (h.o.) motor that the rear end gears are most likely 3.73, too bad gm screwed up the rear discs for 6 years.

The GFX pieces are always worth saving.

The defroster switch if it was nice, as it has Y82 stamped into it and lights up in red.

The dash cluster as well.

The console and knee pad.

The rims would be good to get.

I would just like the VIN if you go back.

Just use good judgment on anything else.

L69's were unavailable with the DT500.
The 5-speeds had 3.73 gears.
The Federal Automatics had 3.23 gears.
The California Automatics had 2.93 gears.

Good to know, seems kind of lame they wouldnt offer the better engine in the pace car though.

The Pace Cars were built earlier in the model year before the L69 was introduced and released for sale.

No known L69 DT500's are known to exist, but that doesn't mean that a big wig didn't have one or two built.

I have never seen one.
