i am restoring my 86 z28, and the valve covers and engine paint were in bad shape. is there any info out there on correct paint codes for the valve covers, heads, and engine block?
the block/heads/intake/oil pan is simi gloss black engine paint
the valve covers the aluminum engine paint may be close, bring a valve cover to the auto parts house and try to match it up

i have already painted the block and oil pan a semi gloss engine enamel. intake? that is just cast aluminum with no paint, mine is pretty dirty, but i am pretty sure it was originally painted.
as for the valve covers, i have already hot tanked them so i can't just take them in and try to find a match, plus, i was hoping that someone out there would have the actual correct paint code.
My suggestion is to go to your local dealership with you vin. I asked about the paint code for the black trim around the rear hatch, etc. When I gave them my vin, I got the paint code a few days later. That may also work for the valve covers. An engine code would probably be more specific and therefore more accurate.
I CALLED GM IN ORDER TO GET THE INFO YOU REQUIRED AND THEY HAD NO RECORDS OF THE PAINT CODES FOR THAT AGE OF VEHICLE AND MY CATALOG DOESN'T PROVIDE THAT INFO.
maybe someone with factory paint on theirs can help you match it up to a rattle can color
give classis indus, year one, or hawks a call also
