Trying To save a z28

I went to the junkyard up the road to look for some parts and the have 2 z28s one is supposed to be a 350 and I think it is a tpi and is complete and really isn't in that bad of shape and is supposed to have a good engine and the interior isn't even that bad! the other is pretty rough. but I am trying to get them before they get crushed next week so I can get some parts and im sure a few other members could use some parts to. I will get some pics on monday and let you know how is goes!

Im not sure what the deal is in Kentucky but in most states if they vehicle is already in the junkyard they will not sell you the car.

Yes he will sell the car because when I asked if he wanted to part it out he said he would rather sell the whole thing to me. it dont matter to him if he gets the same amount of money either way

Re: Trying To save a z28

If he's willing to give you a good deal for both that's great. As stated in most states salvage/junkyards generally won't sell whole cars. On the one that is supposed to have a 350 if it's factory then it would have to be at least a '87 (tenth VIN digit H) and the eighth difit would be an 8 (Indicate a factory 350). Otherwise as you probably know, would have to get block numbers to verify 305 or 350.

If the one is in such good shape does Kentucky allow you to get a Salvage title from a bill of sale? I'm just curious how different states work.

Re: Trying To save a z28

just because a salvage yard owns it doesnt mean its title is salvage. where i live they are only salvage if the car is written off by an insurance company from flood, fire, theft, or accident, and salvage yards often buy cars from auction.
