I have found a set of heads in the house i just moved into. I cannot find any information on the casting number. 3870126. Seems to be from the 60's. Based on similat numbers I have found. Checked motech no luck. I am currently planning on an l05 build to put in my '89 ls. I just want to know if these heads are worth anything. They do seem to have bigger intake runners than the swirl ports. Any input?
My "standard catalog of Chevy casting #'s" does not show 3870126, but it does show
3970126 as as 69-72 350 truck and base passenger car. Measure the intake valves- most of them had small 1.72 valves, which are useless- if they have 1.94 valves, they are much more useable. You say you're building a L05, which is a truck TBI 350- is that so? IIRC, these heads have 74CC combustion chambers, which is WAY too big for a 305.
