Re: My 92 Z28 Camaro Website

Leonard, JT, thanks for finally getting this site together for such a special car. And the dates at the bottom of the pictures are almost 17 years to the day that the car was built!

Just amazing, thanks again, can't wait to see the stories section get finished.

Great site!

Are there any recent photos of the car, taken with modern photographic equipment? It would be cool (and beneficial to restorers) to see this car in full resolution.

Absolutely amazing seeing those pictures. I bet each person that signed that car made sure every nut and bolt they touched was spot on. You can see it in their faces what a big deal it was to them.

Wonderful piece of Camaro history.

Awesome pictures, Leonard. My car was built on August 12, & it's great to see you got pictures of some of the people who built my car.

Great website! Is the car still in Ankeny? I had no idea the last 3rd gen ever made was delivered to Iowa.

The car was purchased through Schildbergs in Greenfield, IA. I still own the car and it is in storage.

It was customer choice to have red inserts or not. I didn't like them and omitted them on the order.

You are right. Typically the inserts turn pink from brake heat and that doesn't look good!!

Cool shots of the assembly line. YOu should add some current photos of better quality. Heck of alot of signatures on that thing; more of a memorabilia thing than a car.

Thanks guys! I just contacted the UAW Solidarity Magazine at the request of several UAW645 retiree's. Since August 27th, 2012 will be the cars 20th Anniversary, they thought their UAW magazine might want to do an article on the car. We will see what happens.

Such an amazing story! So glad it went to an enthusiast like you. Its a trip looking at how they are put together, and how people were dressed back then.

Hope it gets more coverage

Not unusual, just trying to find some solidarity on what the heritage cars should have. Seems like there is some inconsistency with the side emblems, being silver and some being red, while typically the rears will be red... on the red, black, and white cars of course.

I think it's marvelous. It's the last of its kind. So to me, that makes it unique. Nuff said. Good luck Leonard. You have my support.

Re: My 92 Z28 Camaro Website (The Last Third Gen)

Great site! I just bought a similar Z03 car that was built in 07/92 only a few weeks before the end at Van Nuys. My first car was a late 82 Z28 built nearly 30 years ago now, also from Van Nuys. I bought it in September of 1982. I grew up with these cars, as I was just 16 in '82, and I am 46 now! In many ways, the 3rd gen Camaro cemented my love of cars in general, and that has always provided me with a solid living in the auto aftermarket over the last 2.5 decades. It is a real tear jerker to look at those photos knowing that all those jobs, the plant, and the cars all died with the end of production. Thanks for your efforts in keeping those memories and the car alive. Oldtimer.
