1988 IROC-Z28 help??? Thinking about buying and need some info!
Ok so I am thinking about getting this car. I have a few questions though. In 88 was the door sticker red on a black car? I don't remember that being available? It might have to do with the fact though that it was painted and it has a black and red theme going on, on the inside also. It was orig. a 305 car but now has a 355 under the hood. Still runs TPI. has a pretty big cam and needs a stall. Wants to stall out when you come to a light.
Please help me with the outside of what it should be. Also on a 88 is the RPO is Z28 not B4Z correct?

The door jamb is red and the car is black? Or the door jamb is black and the car is red? Or is it the sticker itself??
Either way, that's probably not a factory option, lol. It was repainted most likely.
Hopefully that helps you out man, good luck!
the stalling thing is probley a stall issue.
I thought in 88 cause there was no Z28 they just got a Z28 code?
and I meant the sticker, Was red available on a black car. The car was orig. black. just want to know if the sticker color is correct.

Oh dang, you're right, my bad. They dropped the Z in 88, I completely forgot. lol Are you positive it comes up as an 88 when you run the VIN then? They very well may have just used the same code, but it seems odd when there's an actual code for the IROC.

I will check the vin. I haven't seen the vin or car in person yet. I am pretty sure from 88-90 the code was just Z28 for the IROC.
Re: 1988 IROC-Z28 help??? Thinking about buying and need some info!
Just to clarify things . . .
- All '85-'87 IrocZ's were RPO B4Z. (Since there was also a seperate Z28 model)
- All '88-'90 IrocZ's were RPO Z28. (Since there was no seperate Z28 model)

Come on guys. Please try to not put out invalid information. If you're not sure, please research a little before documenting it in the eteral Internet archive.
As was mentioned, the RPO code for a 1988 IROC-Z will be Z28. B4Z was only used in 1985-1987 to show that the Z28 had the IROC-Z option package. There was no more IROC-Z "package" from 88-90. All Z28s now came with the IROC-Z appearance. The IROC-Z was no longer the top dog in the Z28 lineup. You could get a stripped model or you could get a fully optioned car. I disagree with anybody that says the Z28 went away in 1988. In reality, the IROC-Z package went away in 1988!!
Yes, you could get a black car with red door graphics. The lower stripe would also be black/red and the interior would be red.

ok thanks then I guess its orig. cause the stripe and interior are red. So it was a black with red grafic car.

Let's remember that's why we have the forum. Rookies will learn new things (sometimes even us oldtimers, LOL) and may not always get things right.
