dont be bagging on trans am shirts! I bought my wife a t-shirt with a gold screaming chicken on it. It looks great on stage when we play in our classic rock band

Re: Strange 1985 Z28 Color

the engine bay looks to be that lighter yellow-was that offered that year? They all had the same color in the engine bay as the body, correct?.yes its dirty in there but doesn't look metallic or the same as the outside. But if they did repaint it I think the bumpers would've been done so who knows without being there.

Re: Strange 1985 Z28 Color

Well, the auction is over and the car sold for $4650.00 which was right in the range I thought it would. If the car had been near by and as nice as advertised, I would have bid up to $4000 for it even with the whimpy engine.

I hope who ever got it takes care of it, probably won't one like it for a while.

I don't believe the engine bays were clear coated. At the least, they typically aren't as well finished as the exterior of the car.

Yup, you sir are correct. No clear under the hood. And underneath, there is only some body color oversprayed, almost the entire middle section of my Camaro's underside is (primer) gray.

Re: Strange 1985 Z28 Color

I saw this ad also although I missed the 145 mph speedo. That is an original Gold (Lt. Brown) Z28. Stripes NEVER survive a re-paint on our cars. Although the two I've had repainted I've re-striped them. This is the first gold '85 Z28 I've seen in such good condition, I thought the were all used up! I catch alot of $h!# among my friends for liking the earthtone colors on third-gens; Dk. Brown, Dk. Gold, Lt. Brown (Gold), and the copper '85 Z28's. Now if only this were an LB9 TPI hardtop car!!

Now you are obligated to humor us with a picture of the gang who drives our cars now that they are faded and crusty

I drive a 85 RS that I recently had re painted to its orginal color. I was told by my body shop the Chevy color is copper, and the pontiac color is russett. same paint code.
the code was taken from center console.

Re: Strange 1985 Z28 Color

Hi, new to the forum, and all the pics are vanished from the topic.
I just wanted to post a pic of my car, a gold 1985 Z28 with T-tops and LB9+th700, tan interior. Never seen even a pic of one, so when I came across this one had to buy it. It´s so 80´s!
It has been repainted with original color, engine bay and door jambs are not painted afterwards and are in the same color. its WA-L8590 color code.
