Buying 89 RS 305

So, some might think I'm crazy but I'm buying this 89 RS with a five speed, recently rebuilt 305, TBI, dual exhaust (sounds perfect), chrome Camaro rims (which makes it that much sexier), 2 JL Audio 12's, and alarm. You can't see in the pics but it's got red racing stripes. The mileage is 86,388 and is in mint condition. No rust due to it being a Tucson, AZ car and the interior is also in excellent condition and it's got cold A/C. Other than the stereo it is all original.
Am I the only one thinking it's worth the $5k? Keep in mind they are letting me make payments on it. Thankfully I have a decent job and will have it paid off in 6 months.

I do have to replace the amp cause the one they had blew, so they threw a generic one in. Doesn't bother me though since I got a 500 watt Rockford amp ready to go for it. It is also in serious need of Dynomat and eventually a new box since they didn't chamber it. That is fine with me though. Am I crazy or what? I think it's worth it. Doesn't help it's always been a dream car of mine.

Re: Buying 89 RS 305

You could find an IROC or Z28 that was in good shape for 5k. That paint job is not the best. If its in good mechanical condition thats good. Just depends if thats the car you want or not.

Re: Buying 89 RS 305

IMHO I see that car being worth 3-35 because in the pics from what I can see the body work looks pretty friendly maybe puddy. From what I can tell it also looks like the rear hatch is way of and the door gap is off. I would also check to see if the dors sag, it a pain in the butt to fix if they are. But I would have to see to say for sure. I would honestly keep looking for a nice Z28 or Iroc instead for that kind of money. Be patient, the car that you are ment to have will find you.

$3500.

Personally I'd stay away from anything with subs and an alarm.

I agree, that car looks like a throw together car to me, sorry , but hate the paint-just screams Maco. It's not even a T-tops car. old out and get an IROC or Z28 like the guys said.

Save your money and keep looking. That one has had a poor quality respray and the gaps don't line up. It's a $2.5k car at best. For 5K you can get a pretty nice thirdgen these days.

Re: Buying 89 RS 305

Ultimately it comes down to what you really want. There are other Camaros out there in that price range. Although it does sound tempting and they are willing to take payments but you should weigh your other options. If you know you could pay it off within 6 months or so then hold on to your money and keep looking. I found some really nice ones on ebay motors.

Re: Buying 89 RS 305

Keep walking until you see another one. I would never pay 5K for that car. I paid less for my 91 TA when it only had 69K original miles and was in much nicer shape with a L98 that was a plus. Please dont settle for just first car you see, be patient like everybody else said. If you really want it, congrates, but i think you spend your money a lot better than settling for that car.

Re: Buying 89 RS 305

A dead giveaway of a bad paint job is when the door handles are painted the body color. It's the first thing that caught my eye.
