It is hard to tell but there were 3,915 camaros painted yellow in 86 and 3,052 in 87. This color was available in all 3 models (sport coupe, berlinetta and z28).
It was also available in 1988 (922 camaros).
There was a yellow and light yellow available in 85.
Actually, when I see a factory colored iroc, it catches my eye. My guees there are too many out there. My guess is that there were about 1000 made in each year of 86 and 87.
Hope this helps!!!

Well considering that there were 3,915 yellow camaros that year, divide it by the 4 different models chevy had that would be 978 for each, but as far as the exact count, who knows. I'm sure that it gets rarer. As the years went by with wrecked cars going to the crusher and sitting in bone yards that count goes down.
How many yellow Berlinettas have you seen? I dare say there would have been more yellow Z's and IROCs than anything else...more of a performance color. I have seen a few light yellow SC's running around though...one very ratty 2.8 in my girlfriend's parking lot.
I don't think there is any quantifiable way to say how many yellow IROCs were made, but a yellow '85 IROC is without question in the top 3 of my favorite third gens!

Wasn't trying to put it that way.Just trying to give him an idea of how little of the Camaros were yellow for that year.In other words some models had more or less of them that color,ok mang.

I used to walk the dealership lots on Sunday (closed here) and check out all the new Camaros in the 80's. Back in 1985, I recall seeing two (side by side) yellow 305 H.O., 5-speed IROC-Z's. Not too many of these made in yellow. Then add the H.O. which was in limited production in '85....

Fun to think about what we would have gotten if we could go back and do it again! When I purchased my '86, my first choice was blue, and my second choice was yellow, followed by maroon. I think I would choose blue again, but it would be a tough decision. I saw a yellow '87 IROC convert driving near my house the other day. Looked real sharp.
Well, if I had to do it all over again, at the ripe old age of nine I would have worked better to convince my dad what he REALLY wanted to buy was the black '89 IROC 305 TPI that was on special next to my RS, back when both were new dealer leftovers!!
He would have bought it, too...had it not been for the god-awful red base cloth interior the car had. I can still remember to this day looking inside the windows, and having my mom walk over and say "That is the most hideous thing I have ever seen!"
So instead they got the RS...I only wish my mom could've dealt with red

Yeah, I thought I was getting a rare one when I bought mine a couple of years ago, but it turned out to be a conversion from an LG4 automatic IROC. But at least it was an original yellow IROC, paint code 50.
A few months later I saw an "Ex GM Motorsports" 1988 350 5-speed IROC advertised. I did not believe it could have been a 350, but the salesman insisted. It did have a GM Motorsports plaque on the plenum and a CASC registration plaque on the firewall and holes in the carpet where the roll cage had been. The RPO codes matched the VIN, including B4Z and 1LE (very rare for '88) and I guess there should have been another code for the Canadian edition of these cars. It was also yellow, but a Corvette color, not original. Now I wish I'd bought it, but it was not as rust free as mine. Then again, I wish I'd kept my '68 Camaro in 1973.
a buddy of mine in our camaro group has a yellow 85 iroc in pretty good shape, its a nice looking car. its got an automatic 305 tpi, if you guys would like pics id be sure to take some next time i see him

I found one more when I remembered the Carlisle show and how so many 3rdgens were there. This one belongs to T Wilt from PA...That's one show I'll be attending again this year. So many nice cars, so little money...
