Speedometer

I have seen and heard about lots of Camaros with 145 mph speedometers. My 89 IROC has a 115 mph speedometer. Does anyone else have one like mine? Is that the base speedometer for the 89 IROC?

I *think* G92 with the 5-Speed got them, I'll have to check instead of guessing.

My LO3 IROC got the 115 too. My '86 had an 85 mph. Both now sport 145's, easy swap. I also installed the higher redline tach at the same time in my IROC.

The first Camaro to get the 145-mph speedo was the late model year 1986 Z28 (with and without the IROC-Z option) with the 305 TPI. In 1987, all 305 TPI and 350 TPI Camaros got it, including the convertible. This held true for 1988 also. In 1989, it holds true for the coupe, but I believe the convertible got the 115-mph speedo regardless of engine.

No carbed or TBI Camaros ever got the 145-mph speedo.

So Willie, my 88 IROC shouldn't have had the 115 in it? Figures, blank'n theft recovery vehicles. I'll get all the options back on it that are on the RPO sheet one of these days. Thank you know who that they didn't touch the engine compartment.

My 89 IROC with a 350 came with a 115 speedo. I attribute this to human error, laziness, or running short on certain parts at certain plants on certain days.

My Car is an 89 IROC-Z coupe with a 305 and 5 speed so what speedometer should it have in it? Can anyone else back up that statement that it has G92, because it is not in the RPO's
